E-6 Staff Sergeant Optix, a marksman assigned to C Company, 2nd Battalion 75th Rangers aims his rifle over a hilltop during the opening salvos of Operation Longbow, a joint counter-attack against a GPC battalion guarding the outskirts of Karvo City that involved members of the 75th as well as the 227th Aviation Regiment. The Operation would begin with AH-64 Apache helicopters saturating all known enemy positions with hellfire missiles, 70mm rockets, and chain gun fire, prioritising the destruction of enemy emplacements and vehicles to allow for less obstruction towards the rangers on the ground, who would subsequently move in and sterilise any remaining personnel with small arms. The operation itself would set the stage for a much more significant response from US forces in the coming days, who would later deploy the 1st and 3rd Army infantry divisions to the city in an effort to force the occupying GPC divisions out of the city and aid local partisans in their fight to take back control.
