Desert Storm Grenadier

An infantry grenadier assigned to the 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Division is pictured during Operation Desert Storm around mid January 1991. During a time period before the widespread adaptation of MOLLE gear, infantry troops were issued the relatively more simplistic ALICE webbing system to accommodate their equipment, and relied on the PASGT armoured vest to protect their torso. Given that this particular trooper was equipped with an M203 40mm grenade launcher, he was also issued a USGI grenade vest, capable of storing up to 22 forty millimetre grenades of varying types at a time.
