The Collective: The Tych
The Collective
There are a lot of artists/art thats overlooked on dA. I will be posting a different subject every few weeks to bring some exposure to different artists, cameras, genre's etc.
The Tych
When I think of 'tychs (p.s. not an actual word) I think of pieces of a whole. Elements that bring what the artist is trying to convey in the order they want their viewer to understand. Sometimes a tych is used to bring the connection of a place and a person together, to tell a story, to highlight and seperate important portions etc. You can think of this collection as a tych. When looking at all of it as a whole it is interesting to see how the tych represents itself differently in fashion, nature, street, nude, memory, love etc. Enjoy.

Photography records the gamut of feelings written on the human face, the beauty of the earth and skies that man has inherited, and the wealth and confusion man has created.  It is a major force in explaining

Photojournalism on deviantART
Pronunciation: f O t O - j-r na-l-sm
Function: noun
meaning: journalism in which written copy is subordinate to pictorial usually photographic presentation of news stories or in which a high proportion of pictorial presentation is used; broadly : news photography
according to Mirriam-Webster Dictionary
As Photojournalism Gallery Director it is my duty to bring to you the BEST photographers and deviations that come out of the photojournalism gallery. To me photojournalism is all about getting "the shot". What is "the shot"?  Well it's the one that brings you there, the photo that in one frame can tell you the story of a particular "newsworthy" event, be it a concert of your favourite band, movie premiere, a protest against a government, sporting event or even a street festival. Sadly, I have to say that 30 pictures of your cat Fluffy in various sleeping positions are just not newsworthy, so please post the

Staff Changes
Please be aware of these as it will greatly help you when you are looking for people to speak to within the club.
Unfortunately, WindSorcerous has decided to <a href=””>leave DA and so we must say goodbye to one of our feature admins. This is a loss to both UP and the DA community. Nina has an amazing photography based gallery, she's kind and honest and helpful and a real gem to have as part of the team. We will miss having her here, but we all wish her the best of luck with the future and hopefully she'll return one day.
However, it is my pleasure to introduce to you GFXPunk who will be taking Nina’s place as a Feature Admin. We welcome Josh to our team and hope he will make himself at home here.

-- Stock Up -- Vol. 5 (rethumbed)
Each week we will explore a category of world of Stock Photography. Here on DeviantART stock can be used in photomanipulations, references, and lit previews. So let's take a moment to support our good stock!
This week's feature: Waterfalls
These weeks stock theme is something close to my heart. I love photos of waterfalls. So peaceful, so serene. Perfect for backgrounds in photo manipulations, or just a beautiful preview image for a lit piece! First lets take a peak at how some of DA’s waterfalls (and some from other websites) have been used in the past. Hopefully you can draw inspiration and continue to use waterfall stock in the future!
And you can’t get by without a photomanip of two Jedi’s dueling on a waterfall hahaha

Just getting back online.

We moved to Germany in early June and have just got our internet hooked up.  It's been a wonderful summer here and we've spent most days outside until sunset (10:30pm in June/July).

So no need for internet.  Or TV.  Or phone.

But now it's cooling down, autumn is here and the trees are changing quickly.  Soon it will be winter with just 8 hours of sunlight a day.

I trust all is well with each of you.

Guess what? I got your bamboo framed super nicely and put it in my office. :) It is great to stare at when I'm working on a tough problem! :D

Thank you so much, Kate!

So many years later, it's still one of my favorites. Framed and hanging just to the upper right of my television. I honestly spend more time looking at it than whatever may be playing on the player (we don't have cable/broadcast TV).
