Thanks Hugo! As tight as this page is for me, the organic stuff like trees, rocks, etc., gave me places to loosen up with more texture.

You're welcome.Hmm.It's good to loose up when doing this, it's not just fun but it gives things a more of a natural look than otherwise right?I do that when painting :)

I agree. More organic lends a more realistic feel as opposed to ruled lines and slick brushwork. I am happiest if my ink work feels like painting,

These are top notch pages Bill! Pencil, inks, storytelling...everything is amazing. Soleil is one of the best here. Is it already published?

BEAUTIFUL sequence Bill! The white snow backdrop spreading down to darkness gives a prelude to the spooky-ness to come. Well done Sir!

Like I said.. that castle couldn't be anything other than Dracula's lair.. inspired location design. The way you have done Van Helsing's swirling coat reminds me of the way Gene Colan used to do that sort of thing in Dracula Lives.. was that intentional?

Thanks, and can't say it was, but I certainly love Gene Colan. I wish I could get half his movement.

A-men to that! He (& John Buscema who I would rate just as highly when it came to movement in drawing)made capturing the things I struggle with on a daily basis seem effortless.

Yeah, and after 30 plus years I always feel like I'm just starting out compared to those guys.

That's right. And although those guys, & people like Gil Kane &guys like that who are all now sadly missed, we are lucky to have the art they left behind to be an inspiration.

that's an incredible page, Bill....no offense, though, it irks me a bit that you had to do an audition page for the job. i think your body of work speaks to a skill level that could handle a job like this.

to be clear, when you say "audition", i think of artists having to vey for the job of doing essentially free work for a job they may or may not get. i guess it's that part that "irks" me.

again, no offense.

Thanks AJ!I appreciate that, but from what I've learned, doing a sample page is usually expected with the French publishers, and for what it's worth they're not as familiar with me over there.
