First of all, let me just say, WOW! The atmosphere depicted here is visually compelling and blends nicely with the stark black foreground. I must say that the technique used in painting the sky is top-notch, given the plethora of brilliant- but not too clashing- hues littered here and there across the deep blue backdrop. I can almost feel the sense of calm resonating within this piece and can easily relate to your experiences in the description (for in truth, I still wake up to view the starlit skies once in a while).

Concerning the foreground, the shapes are easily recognizable and combine with the background to tell its story, a skill I undoubtedly admire and envy. However, if I were to state my qualms, they would have to be with the shape of the lamps and the tree. The former looks rather short compared to the other components of the foreground such as the fence, house and girl. (NOTE: This point, of course, can be rendered redundant if said lamps were intentionally meant to be short). As for the tree, I find its edges at the top a bit too rounded; it would make more sense giving it jagged edges to illustrate the leaves protruding from their branches. This is a minor point though as I understand that most tree tops are drawn rounded for the sake of simplicity in cartoons. I suppose you could call it my personal preference to have trees looking more like, well, trees.

Please rest assured that in no way do I mean to criticize your artwork or style. If anything, I wish I could draw beautiful skies like yours and tell amazing stories through my art as well.

So in conclusion, your depiction of 2 AM is an amazing near-masterpiece in my eyes. Keep practicing and I'm quite sure your work may even land daily deviations!
