This is my most technical, and hence ambitious, painting yet. The ref photo has a number of light sources so the colour graduations are subtle and varied which really tested my eye for colour.

And I worked directly with colour - something I very rarely do - but this piece demanded colour from the very beginning.

Again, huge thanks to Bernt for allowing me to use his photograph as a reference. :aww:

How you get all that skin detail in there i'll never know!! wow...

The secret is layering. If you look at the WIP stages, it starts off very rough and then the detail & colour is built up gradually. Check out the video tutorials of the Big Red Speedpaint. There's a lot of detail in there, or rather there *appears* to be more detail.
