From the look of your art work we are kindred spirits. You seems to use a lot of color in your work too. Nice gallery.

Thank you. Actually it was a girl that I met when I was in Africa during Christmas a few years back. She really was much prettier than she looks in the picture.

Do you work from references for your work?

Hi Jasmin, we haven't talked in a while...yes I love your vibrant colors too. I got married in Africa, we spent a month there. This girl was at a canoe race we went to. There was a group of women and men who stood on the shore and sang and danced cheering on each of their teams til the race ended. I thought she was very pretty. She was prettier than I painted her.

I just read on your website that you have been fortunate enough to get to Africa. So was this painted there too? The style of the dress resembles Kenyan clothing. I saw many African immigrants in Paris wearing such colorful elaborate and beautiful dresses. Where did you visit?

It was painted from a picture of a girl I photographed while I was there. I got married in Limbe Cameroon, this girl actually lives in a village where one of my aunt in-laws lives. My husband had just taken me to their village a few days before. And we were at a canoe race in Limbe. She was actually prettier than my painting of her. But her dress is the traditional style of women from my husband's tribe. He had me in those dresses the whole time I was there while he walked around dressed like he was a hip hop star...lol

Yeah that's how it goes. Us men like to see our wives look pretty. If I ever get to Africa, my main priority will be to get a dress like this for my wife. Seriously! I think they are sexier than tight pants. Even if she won't wear it on the street, it's not her type. You can bet she will, when I ask her to at home ... ;)

Yes, the immigrant African women in Paris were extremely pretty too. I wasn't married back then, so I could marvel their beauty anytime I wanted, without fear of getting caught. I didn't dare to take photos or ask if I could. I expected to see plenty of pretty native Parisians, since it's supposed to be the Mecca of fashion, but I actually saw none, and they dress like crap. So these elaborate dresses and pretty black ladies compensated for everything!

Yeah I actually do wear my African dresses sometimes but the older get the more hassle free my dressing options get. Jeans and a top are my usual dress code. When I was in Africa my husband refused to let me wear anything else. I declare next time I will wear my jeans...:) well sometimes anyway.

INCREDIBLE!!! My "color eye" hasn't opened up yet...but when it does, I hope that I can come even remotely close to the mastery that you possess! You are absolutely fearless with your color usage! I stand in AWE!

I so much appreciate your comments. I love color. My goal is usually to use extreme color without losing the connection I admire with reality. I need to do more with color but its coming bit by bit.
