Monasterevin by bifishiar Monasterevin by bifishiar
As I'm still exploring (and struggling with) digital tools, I was looking for something simple to study.
So I came across this beautiful bronze disc: It was found near Monasterevin in Ireland and dates from the 1st-3rd century AD. It seems not quite clear what it was used for, so from a historical perspective it is a quite mysterious object. There are others of a similar type (seven in total), and they seem to come in pairs - one theory goes that the cup in the middle might have been used to burn incense in.
In my picture, I started out with just the pattern, but then got so interested in the textures and lighting of the bronze that I wanted to get closer to the original object - well, I'm still learning by the minute...

Thank you so much for the encouragement (it really helps)! There're so many things I'm quite proud to have discovered, and about as many that frustratingly didn't work as planned. Well, that's what learning means, I guess...
