I've never made a sock monkey before, but yesterday afternoon I created this little one for my nephew for his 4th birthday 
He's made with a pair of ladies socks - deep navy and cream stripes with red heels, which originally had bows and anchors attached too. He has blue felt eyes as buttons looked too creepy!

Aww, he looks like such a sweetie! I bet your nephew loves(/will love depending on when his birthday is!) him. I love that you gave him a proper long tail and those felt eyes look lovely. That's so amazing, and for your first attempt too - wow!
