As you can see, not as much of a break as I thought. :p I've been tinkering with various stuff off and on over the past week, nothing too strenuous. I still hope to have some stuff ready to post by January 1st, though. We'll see.

VDrake's travel plans are finally, finally in place for his visit. It's about damned time.

Magical Girl Raising Project and Vivid Strike both finished this week. My review of the former has already been posted... needless to say, it wasn't a favorite of mine. My thoughts on VS are a bit less clear. I do love that the story went in very different directions from what I was expecting, and I appreciate that there was an actual ending this time, as compared to how the original Vivid anime cut off in mid-arc before the Vivio/Miura fight that it had been hyping ever happened. That said... I still prefer my Nanoha with more crazy tech-based magic cannons and fewer fisticuffs. The post-credits scene hinted that more is coming... if nothing else, I'll be happy to see Fuuka and Rinne's relationship develop further, now that they're friends again.

This week will see the endings of Matoi the Sacred Slayer, Flip Flappers, and Jojo: Diamond is Unbreakable. Of those three, Matoi has been the most pleasant surprise of the season. Based on the premise (magical/exorcist girl fights demons with Shinto god powers!), I wasn't expecting anything much from it, but it's been enjoyable all the way through. Matoi's exciteable best friend, Yuma, has consistently been a laugh riot... especially in the one episode where she broke the fourth wall to pieces and did a hostile takeover of the opening sequence. There's also been a surprisingly touching subplot about the strained relationship between Matoi and her father, one that's been treated with a level of maturity you don't see often in this sort of thing. I'm pretty sure Matoi flew under a lot of people's radars, but with eleven out of twelve episodes in the bag, I'm happy to say I'm pleased with it.

As for Flip Flappers... well, a lot more of the pieces are in place now, but it's still goddamn weird and trippy as ever. All I can say is that I really, really hope it can stick the landing.

That's about it. I'll see you all next week for the final Blogress Report of the year.
