Welcome to Betta Believe It, a club for Betta fish lovers everywhere! Come express your love for the little fishies in any medium- Photography, Digital Art, Traditional Art, Crafts and more! If it's about Bettas, it belongs here!
So I've decided to finally add a folder for Betta Inspired artwork. Not based on medium, this folder will include fashion design, digital, traditional and artisan artwork inspired by our finned friends. Judging will be based on how much of the betta fish is incorporated in the design, as I'd still like to keep this group about the nature, silhouette and spirit of the Betta Splendens, so some submissions may be turned down. So I apologize in advance for the subjectivity of the new folder! But I hope you all enjoy.

Still looking for more contributors or possibly cofounders. :iconouari: is doing a great job as our newest cofounder. If you'd like to step up and seek out betta fish artwork to submit to the group, let me know either by applying as contributor, or noting me about a co-founder request. Thanks! Feedback always appreciated!

Question: I have a female betta in a 5Gal tanks. Because of where it is (i live in a tiny apartment so there's only the one place she can be) i'm having trouble with algae. is there a way to prevent this? I looked into get a algae eater but they all seem to grow to 10" or more. Mystery snails and shrimp are also options because they stay small, but shrimp can become aggressive when they get old.

I'm not a member but I have a question if anyone can answer i'd really appreciate it. My betta (a female white veiltail) is sick. Her fins are closed, and every now and then she will dart around quickly and go back to hiding. She's also stopped eating so a quick answer would be great (i'm also going to the pet store to ask if they know).I change the water regularly and use a conditioner because i only have tap water to use :/ . I thought it was the temperature at first but it's fine and I changed some food to flakes to see if I can get anything into her but no luck.
What could it be and what can I do?

Question for the group (who ever wants to answer). I have had a betta with birth defects named Finley for a few years now… . His bottom jaw has always been crooked, but it has now gotten to a point where he can no longer open his mouth enough to eat. He strikes at the food but his mouth barely opens wide enough so he can't get it in. I've been crushing his pellets to make it easier but now even that is getting too difficult for him. do you think i should put him down? he's not exactly starving yet but it takes close to a half hour every day to make sure he eats enough.

sorry it took so long to get a reply! It sounds like your betta is getting old and his birth defects are catching up to him. I would keep trying to feed him so long as hes willing to eat. if he starts looking really grim- then i would start thinking of maybe putting him down just to save him some suffering.

have you thought about trying some flakes? omega-1 supercolor flakes are what i use for all my fish and they do great on it. it might be easier for him to eat.

He's actually less than two years old. So he still has a lot of years left in him. It's so sad. Anddoesn't like flakes. Never has. But I've started him on hikari medium fry food. Somtimes he can get it down and Somtimes not. But he's still very happy and active inspite of that.

oh well that's good to hear! i guess just keep feeding him so long as he'll eat, and i wish him a good long life
