I'm designing my first winged character and just wanted to say what a wonderful human being you are to share these kinds of anatomical and functional wing design tips. 🕊️
Glad I am not alone in the struggle for finishing projects! Haha!
Yes, I definitely need to start taking a sketchbook with me wherever I go, including work. I had a 30 minutes break today at work and ended up just surfing through social media and such.
I was listening to a podcast while driving home and they were talking on the topic of what to do when you plan to work on your project during a certain day of the week (or even a certain time of day), but things keep "popping up" and you don't get around to it. And they said something similar to the affair analogy, that there's nothing really stopping you from turning off your phone notifications, locking yourself in your room/office, and making it a "do not disturb" time for an hour or whatever it is.
It reminded me of a gentlemen that I was helping set up his website, and he was supposed to do 3 small tasks for the website that day. He didn't do even 1 thing and came back with a story of how he started to do the first task while his son was mowing the lawn, but the lawnmower broke down and they had to drive across town to get a part before the store closed, etc, and I just thought, "Why did the lawnmower take priority over his website?" There was no reason to sacrifice his website's priority for the lawnmower. But if I'm honest, I do the same thing. I'll plan to work on a project, but oh, I haven't done laundry yet, or something else needs to be cleaned, or something just came in that I have to do for my day job.
I think this has really shifted my mindset though and I'll definitely be carving out 30-60 minutes out of my week that is for projects only! Nonnegotiable!
