2006 base: DHF (now defunct)
2021 base: Watermelon Bubblegum (also defunct)
i was so, so, so proud of this doll when i first made it in 2006. i thought it was the coolest thing i'd ever done. as soon as i'd finished it, i started a bunch more with the idea that i'd make a whole themed set of dolls in this same kind of aesthetic, but none of them ever worked like this one did and i didn't finish any of them.
looking back at it today, my first reaction is to cringe very, very hard, because..... ooof. look at it. but then i remind myself that i was 15 years old and having fun and being creative, and there's nothing cringe about that at all.
for the 2021 version, i took inspiration from that nightgown mia wasikowska wears at the end of crimson peak with the huge sleeves and yards upon yards of gathered fabric. it still amazes me a bit that i've managed to retain my pixelling skills, even after so many years of really not doing it very often at all. the hair gave me a bit of trouble and i had a few false starts, but it was often like that even when this was still an active hobby of mine. plus ca change and all that..... overall i'm quite pleased with it, although it's not nearly as pink as the 2006 version, but i think that's ok. it's a ~reinterpretation~
