Upgrade: Chapter 2 (Neurosentry story)
The Neurosentries awaited Anna in a neat line as she was brought into the workshop. Each one floating silently in docked mode, and awaiting activation from their mistress.
“I have given them one final once over and they are all operating at peak proficiency now. The drum cannons were partially underpowered, and the operating system was running slightly inefficiently. Still, nothing a tune up and a patch update couldn’t fix. They are good to go.”
“Excellent. That was the one issue I was never able to resolve myself when I first started using the technology, but as there were more pressing matters to deal with at the time, I never had the time to properly resolve them. This will be most useful for the future.”

Jenna was backing away from the computer screen in shock.
Her own face stared back at her; it wasn’t quite right, the eyes were blue, not green, and the hair was in a style that she wouldn’t be seen dead with. However, everything else was exactly right, even down to the ‘beauty spot’ on her cheek…

Andy hugged her as she sobbed. He then gently whispered in her ear…
“I didn’t mean for you to find out like this.”
Jenna flinched, then pulled away from him.
“You knew about this!!”
“Of course, I

Alanna Strange had memories of fire and metal.
She had taken command of a Rann survey team that was investigating the surface of a planet. Everything seemed fine until a fleet of skullfaced robot drones swarmed over the site. They destroyed everything and everyone in their path. Alanna remembered firing back. She remembered flying around in her jetpack, trying to take out as many of the drones as she could. Then she remembered being wrapped in metal tentacles. She remembered being shocked into unconsciousness. She remembered being carried away.
She awoke to the sounds of machinery. Beeps and other sounds echoing. She opened her eyes and saw a vast web of machines and circuitry. She tried to move but could not. She looked down and saw the majority of her body was encased inside a metal tube. Only her upper chest and head was visible.
A cold voice echoed through the space. "Greetings, Alanna Strange of Rann."
The thrown floated into view. Its occupant stared at Alanna. She
