this is especially nice with consideration of your other artwork (like the "lust" picture... where the fish also represented an essence of the self)

I like that this appears to be just lead (and pen?) on paper. While wonderful works of art can be made and/or modified with computer programs, there is something a bit more personal about traditional mediums. I think it might be because you can't completely erase your mistakes or change your mind midway through the piece without leaving an imprint or a shadow of what you orginally marked down behind.

aw that's so sad!! i wrote a poem just like this, about an old man reminiscing about a former love! ... i would love it if anyone checked it out... :) (it's called forget me not)

Hmmm, that makes me sad, but also a bit warm and cozy in the inside at the same time...
I got a couple of explanations for the fish: Maybe, being an old man now, he has goldfish memory-he forgets many things? But the memory of his girlfriend is strong enough and hasn't faded completely.
Or maybe his pet fish is the only thing that keeps him company now, and he remembers what it was like to have his friend for company...
Anyway, you're using fishes a lot :)
