Experimenting with some more texturing using my beloved silk screen papers. I like the kind of „rough“ surface and gives the painting as opposed to some of my older work which is very „polished“. A bit like the surface of old traditional paintings.
Maybe you remember my „Neuntoeter“ painting. This is a bit similar, I try to combine nature or in this case animals and a traditional portrait or character painting bringing something new to it. In this case I thought the scorpions would make some nice decor or jewellery and at the same time the character of the animals would reflect in the woman’s face and in the whole color and mood of the painting.
Scorpions naturally are supposed to be dangerous and maybe not beautiful in the traditional sense but I tried to make them so.
Feature!Although I don't have that many watchers compared to many other deviants, I thought I might show some love to these artworks I happened to come across that I think deserve a bit of a spotlight There's no specific reason why, just feeling pretty good lately :iconilikeitplz:

I love this painting's eerie feeling, especially since it's halloween
I did it when I was in art school, it's a traditional form of printing and you get a lot of different kind of textures and colors and a special surface (depending on the paper you use) out of it. From those days in art school I still have a few printed papers with textures lying around. I scanned them and used them as textures on the digital painting, so I get this rough look. I experiment a lot with it.
