Short-crested Leonardo (Traditional Painting)

Leonardo, named after graffiti found carved into a rock near where he died, comes to The Children's Museum as a 10 year long-term loan from The Great Plains Dinosaur Museum and Field Station in Malta, Montana.
The thing that makes Leonardo a truly extraordinary dinosaur is how well-preserved he is. This age-defying dinosaur still has 90% of his skin, and is only missing a bit of his head and tail. In addition to his skin, the contents of Leonardo's stomach have been preserved.
Leonardo is a 77 million year old juvenile Brachylophosaurus canadensis, a type of Hadrosaur dinosaur. Hadrosaurs are more commonly known as "duckbills" because of their keratin beak. Hadrosaurs were plant-eating dinosaurs. The name "brachylophosaurus" means small crested lizard.
