I love Tilt shift effect ,
but you should be more selective,
if your using photoshop, then blur by distance (i.e. only show in focus subjects that are a certain distance from the lens), like lens would on a small subject,
like the building to the left, if this was a real 'small scene', it would be in focus,
also .. if you choose a time of day when the shadows are very pronounced it looks a lot like artificial light and makes the tilt shift effect look a lot better
