It was a little
bit of a joke... but seriously
now, this is an actual anorexic woman
who is literally
skin-and-bones (and hair and fingernails).
The model photographed here is quite fit and perhaps
underweight, but Belovodchenko does an amazing
job lighting (and, I believe, subtly editing) his photographs to highlight
the musculature and bone structure of his "BodyScape" series, so it's hard to tell.
The 'giveaway' that this model is not
anorexic is the fullness of her glutes and thigh muscles. The loss of these large muscle masses are one of the most obvious
signs of starvation, and which are conspicuously atrophied in holocaust victims and anorexics... and not
, I'm using the term "Anorexic" in it's improper
'casual conversation' form, which refers to the state of starvation and loss of muscles mass, rather than the proper
technical meaning of "Anorexic" which specifically refers to the eating disorder brought on by the body dismorphic psychological condition "Anorexia Nervosa"... which can affect individuals of any
