Description
My annual OS-tan Christmas drawing.... with a TWIST! This year's wasn't done digitally, and it isn't even in manga style.
Here we have the Binteji Reimei or "Vintage Federation", a collection of vintage OS-and-hardware-tans. Largely discarded and forgotten by the mainstream world and considered useless by many, the Vintage-tans have (along with their small but diehard userbase) carved out a small but meaningful place in today's world.
The name was taken from the "Island of Misfit Toys" segment of the famous Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer TV special; I arrived upon it when I began drawing SAGE-sama. She doesn't have much respect for micro/minicomputer OSes, and I can just imagine her thinking "god help me, I'm on the Island of Misfit Toys."
So anyway, here the Vintage-tans (and a few visitors) decorate one of their many apple trees--they live on an orchard you see-- and celebrate the holiday season.
COUNTERCLOCKWISE FROM FAR LEFT:
-ITS-tan (not a member of the Vintage-tans)
-PTSDOS-tan
-MSDOS-tan
-C-One-tan (who's shape-shifted into MSDOS-tan's form)
-DRDOS-tan
-ORIC-tan
-ZXSpectrum-tan
-filler
-EXEC-sama
-GENIAC-chan

-Commodore PET-tan
-Commodore 64-tan
-SAGE-sama (not a member of the group, she's visiting)
-Apple ///-tan (not a member?)
-GEM-tan
-DEC OS8-tan
-Apple Lisa-tan
-DOS/V-tan
-Apple ][-tan
-DEC RSX11-tan (above Apple ][-tan)
-QDOS-tan (above RSX11-tan)
-PCDOS-tan
-Commodore Amiga-tan
-Windows 2.0-tan
-Windos 1.0-tan
-DTSS-tan
-PilotOS-tan
This is also an Xmas gift for my dad. Looooooooong story.
Pen and ink, HUEG stock paper, surprisingly short time!

Well it's not "manga style" depending on what you consider "manga style". Honestly I have see manga with these styles of eyes and noses (especially on older manga), so this could very well pass for a kind of manga style. ^^
And I can see now why it would be a big hit, since (like the Professor Clayton picture) it has such a charming, whimsical, almost nostalgic feel to the drawing that seems wonderfully appropriate for the vintage girls. ^_________^
And seriously, who can say no to the SHEAR NUMBERE OF CHARACTERS PRESENTED IN A SINGLE PICTURE!! You're very good with that, I must say. ^-^
LOL,... feel like socking one on SAGE-sama for that thought, but interestingly enough she's not too far off. Strangely enough, she IS older than all of them (including EXEC-sama, who I guess would feel less self-conscious about her age thanks to "Gina"), and with a few exceptions the vintage-tans are definitely considered "toys" in the present day.
But there's such lovely toys, fufu,.... ^__________^
Since there's so many girls, I'll rush through this one. ^.^
=================================
ITS-tan - a little smaller than usual in this pic, but I reckon that makes her more Kino-like. ^^
PTSDOS-tan - hard to get used to with beady eyes, but still loves her hair [thogh it's missing some braids]. ^^
MSDOS-tan - uh,... it's "me". ^__^
C-One-tan - the lamb ears give her off. ^^
DRDOS-tan - haha! This old gal transferred quite well to this style ^-^
ORIC-tan - now with 50% more tomboyishness. ^____^
ZXSpectrum-tan - so sweet and serene, one of my favorite characters of the BR. ^___^
EXEC-sama - how pretty, although we don't see too much of her hair here. How sweet of her pointing to GENIAC's friend.
GENIAC-chan - her happiness has a whole new meaning now, it lifts the spirit. ^^
Commodore PET-tan - shame its only a side shot, but she shows off some wholesome charisma. ^___^
Commodore 64-tan - hmmm,... in this style, she actually looks almost like a DEC-tan,... or a very simplified Multics-sama.
But how nice of her to read a story. ^^
SAGE-sama - trying very hard to be polite?
Apple ///-tan - this girl has gone through so many character revisions,... I guess we've finally settled on the Dharma look. ^^
GEM-tan - looks a lot more youngish here, but still has the old school charm. ^.^
DEC OS8-tan - hmmm,... I can barely remember her, but did she finally decide to join? ^__^
Apple Lisa-tan 00 still as pretty as ever, and the HUEG cowlick transferred perfectly. ^o^
DOS/V-tan - still the bashful mystery girl that is much served by our revisions. ^^
Apple ][-tan - HAHA! even at Christmas she's still sorta-working. hasn't she ever taken a break in her life? ^_________________^
DEC RSX11-tan - fufufu, and I just saw her in the other picture. So when did she join? ^^
QDOS-tan - her cuteness also transferred over well in this style! ^.^
PCDOS-tan - uber-beady, for the lol. ^___^
Although i noticed that in this style, all the pigtails start from the lower part of the head. ^^
Commodore Amiga-tan - She still looks sweet as ever! Careful she doesn't get TOO close to the true and is confused with honey. ^-^
Windows 2.0-tan - she's drawn a lot like she's done in your comic, +15000 points! ^v^
Windos 1.0-tan - you can't see much of her, but she seems happy as ever. ^-^
DTSS-tan - oro? This girl chose to retire too? That's a relief, we need some more experience. ^^
PilotOS-tan -- a little taller than usual here (unless DTSS-sama is short), but still has an appropriate coolness about her. ^__~
Notable exceptions: ROMDOS-tan (Waaaaah! no quadruple pigtails!), and our two favored Atari-tans. A few others, but they're not as missed. ^^'
