About what I am writing: Fetish vs. Story

You expect certain scenes when you're reading a female muscle fetish story. Why? Well, because you're reading a fetish story, so you want to read those scenes that satisfy your fetish.

To list a few:

• Growth and Empowerment: Scenes where the female character grows her muscle and size, and therefore becomes powerful.  Often the character grows emotionally as well as her strength.

• Domination and Compulsion: the female character uses her physical strength to dominate her opponents via various degrees of violent manners. As a consequence, she compels her will to others; sometimes for justice, other times for self-interest.

• Intimidation: Even without direct violence, the muscular female character intimidates others only by showing her well-developed muscular body.

• Envy and Worship: The muscular body of the female character becomes the center of interest. Other characters, men or women, become jealous of her muscular body. Hatred to the muscular female is often a form of jealousness. Or, to the opposite, they can become liking of her body to the level of worshiping.

• Feats of Strength: The female character demonstrates the amazing powers of her muscle body by performing various feats with her incredible strength. Bending metals, lifting cars, breaking chains ...  you name them.

• Humiliation: This is where female muscle fetish can differ from superhero story.  The female character humiliates male characters who in typical social norm are supposed to be more muscular and stronger than females. She shows her superior size, muscularity, and strength and mocks the compared male characters.

• ... and of course Hot Sexual Scene: The muscle female character lets the reader know why her body is so special when having a sexual fun.

Therefore, good fetish stories always consists of good fetish scenes. Without these scenes, it fails to function as fetish story.

On the other hand, there are other elements that makes a good story good story.

• Character: Who are the characters in the story? Do they feel like real people? Can you sympathize with these characters' motives and actions?

• Setting: Where in time and space the stories are told? Does it feel realistic or at least consistent and believable?

• Conflict: What are the main events of the story? Is there anything special or interesting in it? Does it feel common and natural, or is it too artificial?

• Plot: How do the events happen in order and why so? Does the story have have logical consequences? Do the plot unfolds with the natural innate behaviors of the characters, or the characters act as mere plot devices?

So there is this very subtle balance between fetish scenes and story elements. And each author and each story picks up a different focus.

As for fetish story. good ones put the focus (solely) on fetish scenes, and other elements of the stories remain very thin. They are only there to deliver those scenes.  This is actually a very good choice, since this is what fetish story readers are looking for (and pay for).

It is a bit like Opera. Music is the main presentation. Other things - characters, background, dialog, clothing, plot ... all of these only give justification for playing beautiful songs.

About half of my stories are fetish stories. When I'm writing fetish stories I also try to put emphasis on fetish scenes.

Still, I tend to put a bit of attention to those story elements -- character, setting, conflict and plot. This is to make my story plausible and rememberable, as well as to avoid myself writing the same story again and again.

Now, the other half of my stories.

They are NOT fetish stories.

It is the opposite. I am writing genre stories that contain female muscle fetish elements in them.

Yes, the story has muscular female character who dominates, compels, humiliates, intimidates, gets envied and worshipped, does feats of strength and has hot muscular sex. But, the main dish is the genre story.

It can be a mystery, thriller, romance, wuxia, noir, detective, horror, SF, fantasy, life story, or whatever.

Whatever genre I choose, I am trying to be a proper story for the genre, which means that I would like to have sympathizable character, plausible setting, interesting events, as well as logical and exciting plot.

And in these stories, the muscular female character should play a central role. She is not just an eye candy. Her muscular body is not an empty attribute. She should move the plot and her dynamics with other characters evolve because of her muscular body and strength.

So I would like my story to be a good genre story in itself AND to contain satisfactory female muscle fetish scenes AND to have these two well-integrated.

This is very challenging. But when I do it right, it gives me great satisfaction.
