It looks very much like some Fractal Explorer images that I tried to reproduce unsuccessfully in UF some time ago. Which formula did you use, if it's not a secret?

Well, you know I love the Talis formula in FE and I wanted, like you, to try and get the same results in UF too. This is a private formula that another artist generously allowed me access to. I'm not mathematically smart enough to create formulas :D.

Nothing that acouple of thousand zzzz would do in a Night's Sleep. Recent fatherhood has pretty much arrested me in my tracks!

Always good to drop in here and stumble across a masterpiece or two from you when I do though :)

Love this new shift...

That's not a talis by any chance????

Totally love your work as it is one of the shining examples of what Fractal Art should be all about but sadly is not... A Handful of folk like Titia, Kirsty and Chris continue to impress me in this area too

Always a pleasure my dear! :)

Thank you for the too kind, generous comment Zoo...I appreciate it. Congrats on the new baby!

This is not a Talis, it was created using a private formula in UF and I'm very excited about exploring it.

I love the talis in FE but hate the limitations of FE like layering, masking and gradients which is why I'm excited about getting similar results in UF. You can expect to see more like this soon... I can't stop! :D

Looks great.... and I agree with you totally with your POV of UF over FE. I love what Titia and Jenny can do with that app but UF opens up a whole load of other doors..

The only app for me that really goiver UF a run for its money is Quadrium for Mac... but it is a totally different type of fractal app that does not support layering. at least not in the photoshop sense...

This piece is precious and I am sure the ones that follow will be just as great to look at! :)

Titia has gotten some truly astonishing images out of FE and Jenny was the one to generously send me some starter params for the Talis formula. FE is a great free program with one major flaw, the gradient editor....I loathe it...I have never been able to get gradient I'm totally satisfied with.

I have a Mac...I'll have to check out Quadrium...layers are great but not having the option sometimes forces one to be more creative.

Agreed... I HATE the grdient editor.. but even worse than that is the preview window.. I need about a dozen microscopes stacked one on top of each other to view what I am doing...

That may vave been great in the days on 640 x 480 resolution but since then we have come a long way!

If you do get a hold of Quadrium - I posted a starter tut on mto my resources... It's a bit of a montser to get started with but a lot easier if you are a whizz with UF. It has some wonderul trapping options as well as textures and tilers etc...

The gradient though is typically very mac and takes a lot of getting used to... but it too can be very powerful. Also lets you import .ugr's =)
