Jersey Devil tight pencils

Okay, I broke down, lightboxed the sketch and cleaned up the pencils to point of tight pencils. So it's not going to be COMPLETELY digital.

I can't help it, I'd rather clean up and tighten pencils the old fashioned way instead of trying to fight it in Photoshop. I love the feel of the pencil and paper in my hand!

But from here on in, the rest will be digitally painted. Especially since I don't have anything to mount the paper to at the moment.

Added more details, added the shaggy neck, scales, hand webbing, carnivorous horse-like teeth, etc.

I still plan on working on my Reaper Jacky piece for Halloween, but because this image of the Jersey Devil would NOT get out of my head, I have decided to start turning this in to my main Halloween artwork for this year.

If all goes well, I plan on entering this into the art contest at the Chiller Theater Expo next weekend ( Halloween weekend ).

Love working on creature designs like these. Something that isn't cartoony really, just raw edgy fantasy.
