She traveled all around the world
And everywhere she went
She'd have these shoes and all would say
I wonder what she spent

When looking at this footwear
(And maybe some of you agree)
This supercalifragishoe is
Practically perfect....as it should be!

This shoe design is for my own personal Mary Poppins: a lovely, wonderously fun and most inspiring lady and practically perfect- I love you mom!! :D

Sketches and Photoshop.

I really love the design you used for this shoe.  The flowers are so perfect for your concept, and the mesh top really ties it to the character.  Considering it is for Mary Poppins, I would to have loved to have seen a lower heel for this but that is my only critique.  If this were to be made I would seriously consider purchase.  Lovely work.

Thank you! I had a lot of fun with the little details of this one, the design itself was fairly simple so I took my time playing with the textures :)

Really still think these should be sent to Disney as a shoe line!

heeze i olove this shoe...i am not such a big fan of pointy tiped shoes (they make the food look larger) but i just love the flowery design...i would soooo totally wear them even with pointy tip

I have a soft spot for sharp shoes - my grandmother was notorious for wearing towering pointy toe heels, and she's a main reason I love shoes today :) What a great compliment, thank you!

I especially like the floral pattern because it's so elegant, appropriately evocative of the practically perfect character.  I did wonder at first if it might be too elegant because I wouldn't have recognized it as a Mary Poppins homage if it weren't for the title, but my subjective impression of the character is skewed by the colorful and whimsical movie and not by the character of Mary Poppins herself so much; as a reflection of the stylish and proper lady, it's very nice.

The only part that seems peculiar to me is the top of the upper with the decorative cut-outs resembling lines of marching dashes or minus signs; at first I thought the openings might be eyelets for shoelaces but I would suppose not since they also surround the opening for the ankle.  Perhaps it's just me, but something about the upper seems incomplete to me and I think it's because of the cut-outs.  Admittedly, I rarely draw court shoes or pumps but perhaps an alternative to the simple dash-shaped cut-outs might be flower-shaped cut-outs in keeping with the flower theme.  I've also wondered how this shoe would look if it didn't have the cut-outs but perhaps a tongue and shoelaces suggestive of an Edwardian boot, or perhaps a buckle over the instep.  But all that aside, it is a very elegant shoe and I'm sure it would look very nice in real life.

Thank you for your comment, as always!

The bottom of the shoe was designed to reflect her more practical every-day "spit spot" side, the navy of her traveling clothes, and the flowers are from the design on her carpet bag, the leaves blowing across the shoe because she comes and goes with the changing of the winds :) The upper part of the shoe was to represent her Jolly Holiday outfit so I tried to use the sheer lace/eyelet with the embroidered flowers like she has on her skirt and blouse and the woven ribbon that she has at her neck. I had ruffles that went around each of the openings at the ankle and arch, but it looked rather fussy and a little too prissy - I always imagined Mary Poppins to be on the simpler side of elegance. I ached to add a zipper with a cameo pull of the silhouette Bert draws of her on the sidewalk instead of the traditional Victorian visage, but alas it wouldn't have shown in the angle of my drawing (but that's a bonus feature design if they someday become three dimensional!!). I really love the boot/bootie shape and usually do tend to go that way with my designs because they offer a lot of surface area to design on and around, I'm sure I'll go back to that shape soon! Thank you again for taking the time to write such thoughtful comments!! :)

I loved Saving Mr. Banks!! Emma Thompson was BRILLIANT and what better choice than the American treasure Tom Hanks to play the American treasure that was Walt? Definitely a movie I'll have to own, It felt like a full length special feature :D

I'm glad you like my design, it makes me happier than you know to hear that you'd want to own the actual shoes - thank you ever so much! :)
