Wolf portrait IV - Dreaming of a better future

I have a dream of a life where the two-legged humans don't hunt us wolves. Where they understand that we aren't the monsters they believe, where they understand us and our behavior. A world where they don't shoot at us as soon as we show ourselves. A world where we can raise our pups in peace, hunt in peace, and not run and hide from them. I have a dream that we once again can howl to the moon and roam this world without fearing of being shot for crimes we didn't commit and not be feared as merciless killers when we just follow our instincts.

This is indeed a beautiful and lifelike wolf! There is not much to critique, and you are certainly a better artist than me, but I will try to critique the best of my abilities and knowledge. I do have dogs (a Smooth Collie and a Shetland Sheepdog) so I am fairly  familiar with the facial anatomy of canines. First of all, the muzzle seems a tinge too large for my personal liking. The upper lip seems like it may be hanging a bit too low, but again, this is my personal preference and my experience with canines. Also regarding the muzzle, it looks like it curves a bit downward, while I believe it should be a bit more straight. I feel as if all of these contribute to the feeling that the muzzle has too large of a girth. You did a wonderful job on the fur, but the fur on the left side of his neck (his right) seems a bit rushed and a bit more undetailed, as does his back. Perhaps it needs more shadow/highlights, or darker fur? The muzzle transitions from fur to nose too abruptly, in my opinion. I feel that it should have been a bit more blended, as the amount of fur gets smaller and smaller until it disappears, and it doesn't just stop at a fairly long length. Lastly, the eyes' shape is too almond. It does make the wolf look more beautiful, but slightly less realistic. However, this is an artist's preference and style. Otherwise, this piece of art is nearly perfect! I especially like the different shades of fur on the top of the head, and the detailed ears! In my opinion, ears are always hard to draw on canines. That is it! You did an absolutely spectacular job on this wolf, and hopefully my critiques were constructive and could help you in the future!

I have pictures of wolves, and this is pretty accurate. Also, depending on age, gender, and breed, the wolf in question may have different aspects. This one appears to be a Red Wolf, but without seeing the rest of the body it's hard to say.

I like the description too, Here in Northern California wolves are making their way into Ca from Oregon, people are kind of 50/50 about it, youtube vids of wolves running where they haven't in about 100 years. Love it.
