Anime Screenshot Tutorial [REMAKE] by BechnoKid Anime Screenshot Tutorial [REMAKE] by BechnoKid
Hair tutorial is here.
Although the tutorial refers to painting hair, the method of erasing the shading layer is still the same!
But be sure to make clean shapes and NOT messy ones!

Voila~! A brand new tutorial based on my very famous (and very old) screenshot tutorial from YEARS ago.
I took the old one down for several reasons and I promised I'd make a new one, so here you go!
If you have any questions, I'll try my best to answer them!

Thank u for this tutorial! :D It's written pretty good, everything is clear and it doesn't look as complicated as it used to XD
I rly love that kind of art (fake screenshots I mean) and I'm also happy to see your fake screenshots which look much better than mine, like an actual anime screenshots <3 I draw mine in more painting way, cause I'm not very good in hard shading and clear lineart, but I enjoy it too! UwU
And well, I actually have a collection of those:

You wouldn't be able to replicate a screenshot of this quality in MS Paint unless you literally painted pixel by pixel for months. There's simply just a limit to what can be made in MS Paint, which the exception of extremely talented and patient artists.

hmm...I may not be the most experienced but I made my profile pic with a laptop (with no pen or tablet) on MediBang. It takes a lot of practice to be able to draw with your finger.

I'm currently following your tutorial and I'm having trouble regarding applying highlights to the hair, since the hair color that I'm working on is black.

I don't know if you're still having problems, but using a dark gray, and then going to black helps. Or you could use black, and then highlight in grey.

So I use FireAlpaca for all my digital work, and I was able to follow along with this tutorial pretty flawlessly! I remember using your older version in CS2 quite often.

The only thing I got stuck on was adding that fill layer to make it look "grainy". I got around this by using an open stock texture of marble, put it in it's own layer on top of everything, then hit Multiply and messed with the opacity. Thought this might help others who get stuck as well!
