whats your favorite ink brands? and why?
favorite colors?
most lightfast colors?
most durable?
easiest to work with?
fav because if habit?
i'm personally looking into buying Noodlers right now for the first time.
and im interested in getting some J. Herbin which uses flower petals as the pigment base to their inks.
i ordered the set 2 of Dr PH Martins since i like that color set and see they have a nice sheen and shimmer to them, not to mention they look luminescent.
i already have Liquitex acrylic inks, and i use them sparingly except when i wanna refill my uni-posca markers with them. btw they work perfectly as refill ink for acrylic markers as long as you mix the liquitex color ink with liquitex white to make it opaque.
and i also have some speedball and winsor and newton calligraphy ink which i recommend over their drawing ink only because they are more lightfast than their drawing inks.
why do traditionalists hate digital artists so much?
they accuse digis of "cheating" or "not working hard enough" or "copyright infringement" for layering digital paint over a pre-existing image.
i've experienced this myself.
and seen the same prejudiced mindset against others.
dont the traditionalists have any art history education?
dont they know that Vermeer used the camera obscura to make his paintings?
Vermeer, if you didnt know, would layer paint over a pre-existing image..(sound familiar)..that would be casted down by the camera obscura onto the canvas.…
when asked by reporters about why he used other people's photos/art for his paintings...Andy Warhol who silkscreened replied, "because its easier to do."
So, according to traditionalist's mindset...Warhol and Vermeer are a crap artists for not "working hard"
sound familiar?
thoughts, comments?
btw...i'm not trying to start any flame war, just a discussion why traditionalists are so off put by digital artists so much.
i've been a artist working in multiple media, for well over 20 years. so i don't consider myself a traditionalist nor a digital artist. i've worked in both mediums.
i dont classify myself as either.
