why do traditionalists hate digital artists so much?
they accuse digis of "cheating" or "not working hard enough" or "copyright infringement" for layering digital paint over a pre-existing image.
i've experienced this myself.
and seen the same prejudiced mindset against others.
dont the traditionalists have any art history education?
dont they know that Vermeer used the camera obscura to make his paintings?
Vermeer, if you didnt know, would layer paint over a pre-existing image..(sound familiar)..that would be casted down by the camera obscura onto the canvas.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camera_o…
when asked by reporters about why he used other people's photos/art for his paintings...Andy Warhol who silkscreened replied, "because its easier to do."youtu.be/8Egsj1n3O6I?t=27m10s
So, according to traditionalist's mindset...Warhol and Vermeer are a crap artists for not "working hard"
btw...i'm not trying to start any flame war, just a discussion why traditionalists are so off put by digital artists so much.
i've been a artist working in multiple media, for well over 20 years. so i don't consider myself a traditionalist nor a digital artist. i've worked in both mediums.
i dont classify myself as either.
