PD - Coloring Process by Beanjamish PD - Coloring Process by Beanjamish
Not 100% a tutorial but I felt like showing my step by step coloring process I use for Parallel Dementia. One day I'd like to either make a really in-depth tutorial or at least host a Ustream on the subject.

For now I hope this helps or inspires some folks, even if it's not very specific.

this is a good semi-tutorial or whatever you call it, it should help me along with others while making comics!

do you use this same procedure when drawing other comics or art as well?

I use this coloring style for must finished-level pieces, but in something like a full color commission or fan art I spend a lot more time refining it. Making sure the light is correct adding little shading details, etc.

ok, i see, one more question, is the lineart done in pencil or some other traditional method, or is it done on computer?

Awesome! Nice! I like this.

The way you color is very good. Saturation levels is important.

*grabs and steals all the knowledge on this page to use to her own ends*

Seriously though, even without being super specific on the exact "hows", this has some reeeally useful stuff. Also, 'tis cool to see what techniques other people use to do their work.

I've wanted to know how you do this for ages man. When you say "Desaturated with dark blue tint" how do you go about the tinting?

I duplicate the gradient layer, clipping mask it to the base color layer, turn it to hue/ saturation at a low opacity, duplicate it again, turn to to multiple or hard light or overlay (whatever looks best), combine all those adjusting layers with the base, open up the hue/ saturation window, play with that some until it looks better.

....I should really stream it.

Yes, yes you should! I was going to ask the same question and my terrible technical knowledge left me little...confounded. I'm going to give it a whirl though.

Oh man, I was wondering about you're general techniques, too.

And if you did any kind of Ustream, I would totally do everything in my power to be on there watching it. Because that's something I certainly want to see.
