Sabrina could barely hear the ref as he administered the standing eight count. It was all a lot to take in. With a packed crowd cheering the fighters on, the bright lights of the local venue, the slight trickle of blood oozing from her right nostril, and the thick padding of her red leather headgear shielding her ear, it was near impossible to make out the count.
She leaned heavily back against the cornerpost, arms slung over the top ropes. She still had a few moments to calm herself down. She couldn’t falter now. ‘Okay, deep breath. In...and o-’
A white towel was tossed into the ring. The ref waved his hands. It was over
Sabrina let out a disappointed sigh from her position in the neutral corner as her opponent’s corner team rushed into the ring to tend to their overwhelmed fighter.
“‘Atta girl!” A tall, muscular, lig
