At noon
the sky is a desert,
each cloud a mirage

in the vast emptiness,
bleached of blue
by a white hot sun.

It seems a reflection
of withered land below,
pale and parched,

with only a hint of yellow,
like dry fields of stubble,
blowing in the wind.
