The Hawker Tempest was a British fighter aircraft primarily used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) in the Second World War.

Here's a WIP page with some images describing the work process, wires, and texture close ups:

...and here's a little description of how I added the backgrounds:

The models polycount is around 120k. I'm using one 4k texture for diffuse, one for bump and one for spec.

Modeled and rendered with Modo.

Very nice. Prefer the Hawker Typhoon myself, but this is a very nice piece.

I'm familiar with both aircraft. Douglas Bader flew Hurricanes (remarkable as he had no legs) during the war.

I salut you! Awesome modeling and texturing as always. Makes me wanna model something myself again.

Cheers

Very stunning, and one of my favourite WW2 planes! :) I've got a 1:72 model of Pierre Clostermann's kite, but it's back in Hungary...

Wow :wow: wonderful model and renders of one of my favourite old WW2 aircraft :D I especially like the low level scene - the lighting is superb!

I admire the modelling, really do. I've tried my hand at modelling planes and it's so fucking hard. That said, I never ever did texturing, because I usually gave up before the modelling was completely finished.

Great work.

Beautiful work!! Love pix of those old warbirds. I saw one of the original Spitfire Supermarine planes at an airshow a number of years ago. And a local fellow and some friends rebuilt a P-51("Dakota Kid") which they donated to the air museum in our state. Keep up the good work!! :D

Excellent work. Bout the right poly count too for some of the higher end models in some modern flight simulators!
