As it was designed for use as a banner on fimfiction, I left that space mostly empty because of the site's layout, which overlaps an avatar image on the bottom left next to text; it's a rather 'busy' element on the site's group layout pages. With that in mind, I knew the bottom left would already have a busy element in the avatar to draw the eye, and I didn't want to clutter up the composition with overlapping elements.
Not sure if it's entirely successful in-place on fimfiction, since I was just going by guesswork as to how it would end up looking on a group page.
Seeing as the story follows canon episodes, Twilight will eventually be a princess in the story.
Currently, Subby and I are still in season two.
