Modding the "userChrome.css" to disable the transparency and blue color.

For some hours i had updated to Firefox 4 and absolutely dislike the new default design of the tabbar.

I search on the web and find a little workaround, modificated by me.

Get started now:

Edit the "userChrome.css" in the following directory:

%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<Profilordner>\chrome\

If there is no "userChrome.css" you must duplicate and rename the "Chrome-example.css" to "userChrome.css" in the same directory.

Copy and paste the code above.

Then restart your Firefox.

Important: You must use the default theme/persona in Firefox.

If you have any questions: feel free to ask.

I am trying to get this to work with a specific color, due to my own style using that color. I changed the third line

background-color: -moz-Dialog !important;

to

background-color: #1b1b1b;

But its not transparent now.

I think i have some ideas on how to fix it but help would be appreciated.
Derp forgot to put !important

So is it fixed for you? If not tell me excactly what you want to do.
Yeah i fixed it but its going over the windows buttons (close minimize and maximize/restore) is there a way around this? I am having to put it in a style with stylish because i don't have the chrome folder in the location you said it would be. Is that the problem?
Nvm i just found that the chrome folder is not created by default anymore, so i created the folder and css file. However it's still going over the windows buttons.

can't you just disable aero to get with of it's transparency? not to sound like a jackass or anything D:

Sure but then you still have the blue default tabs, if you use a persona like "simply silver" as workaround, the inactive tabs for example are very dark (my opinion).

But if you disable aero - you will disable for the entire system...

LOL, Good point! >__> I never would've thought of it like that.

Say, what if userChrome.css doesnt exist?

Please read my comments below the code:

"If there is no "userChrome.css" you must
duplicate and rename the "Chrome-example.css"
to "userChrome.css" in the same directory."

It didn't quite get rid of all the blue for me. The background of the navigation bar and also the bookmarks bar is still blue. However I have "Tabs on Top" enabled. When I disable it then the navigation bar isn't blue anymore, but the bookmarks bar is still blue.

Any idea how I can get rid of the blue from both navbar and bookmarks bar with the "tabs on top" ENABLED?

Thanks!! ^^

I will testing that and post if i had a workaround. Thanks for your feedback.

So, here we are, updated the code above.

- remove the "go" arrow
- remove the blue from statusbar, toolbar (url, search, buttons) and bookmarks
- compress a little bit
