A quick digital color I did today as a Patreon reward for :iconryan-pawz:. It's another MLP color pony swap. This time it's pre-princess Twilight Sparkle taking on Pinkie Pie's markings for a day. It also looks like bookhorse is trying her hoof at baking a cake as well. Gee. If they're swapping roles, I wonder if Pinkie is playing around with some Twilight's lab equipment? It should be safe if she does. Atomic Cock

I hope you like what you see. Please help make more art like this possible by supporting me at Patreon Patreon (2017, square) Icon mini

Looking at this...Pinkie Pie really needs her nice blue eyes.

Pinkie Pie as Twilight Sparkle would be the "what does this button do!" kind of mad scientist.  May not always be successful or even the slightest bit organized, but she gets spectacular results.  Just don't stand too close.

AAaaaaaaah! Pink Bookhorse! No! Actually, it'll probably end up better than that time AJ helped Pinkie make muffins for the whole town... Nevermind. Proceed.

But seriously, here's the world's easiest from-scratch cake recipe (and one of the oldest)... Pound Cake, named because it uses one pound each of its main ingredients.

1 pound/450 grams (by weight) of flour
1 pound/450 grams (by weight) of regular ol' granulated sugar
1 pound/450 grams of unsalted butter. Let it sit out for an hour or two to soften, don't use the microwave for this!
1 pound/450 grams of eggs. That's about 9 "large" eggs. Also let these sit out for an hour or two beforehand to come up to room temperature.
Half a teaspoon of salt
1-2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

Ready-set-GO

1. Oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 if you're all metric 'n stuff)
2. Take a little extra butter and smear the heck out of the inside of either two loaf pans or a deep 9-by-9 inch casserole dish. Sides AND bottom.
3. Take a couple of tablespoons of flour and shake it all around the pans/dish until everything is buttery and floury and there's flour on your kitchen counter oops.
4. Grab your biggest mixing bowl. Either using a mixer at low speed or a big friggin' spoon mix the hell out of the butter and the sugar. Do this until you're tired. The more you do this the more your cake will rise, so mix it until you're cramping your biceps. 5 minutes with the mixer, 15 minutes with your aching arms.
5. ONE AT A TIME add the eggs. After each egg mix it in (again, low speed or by hand) until the egg is completely blended in. Then the next egg. Damn your arms are hurting now, are you sure there isn't someone you can talk into doing this?
6. Add 1/3 of the flour. Mix (yep low speed) or buy hand stir in the flour until it's nice and smooth.
7. Do 6 again.
8. Do 6 again.
9. Pour the batter into the loaf pans/casserole dish.
10. Into the oven with them!

Bake for about an hour. When the top cracks open, and you see golden-brown forming, it's probably done... the inside of the crack shouldn't look wet but it shouldn't be all dry and crunchy. Good advice, that.

It will feel springy to the touch, and if you have an instant-read thermometer it should read about 205-210 degrees (or a bit less than 100 if you're still all metric 'n stuff). Stick that thermometer in the crack, you know how!

Take it out without burning your hands (it makes the cake taste better), and cool it on a rack for a while, 10-15 minutes or so. Carefully tip out the cake to let it finish cooling for another couple of hours.

Tweet what you did.

Eat the thing that you made from scratch like grandma used to make, maybe with whipped cream. Wouldn't she be so proud!

And you know what you can do with this on the next day?

Slice it about 3/4"/2cm thick and put it in the toaster, and eat it with honey and butter. Oh yeahhhhh. Morning sin, the best sin of the day.
