Flight booked for LibreGraphicsMeeting.org in Nuremberg in April, yay Germany!
Holiday Greetings. And a BIG F*CKING HUG for all those who find this a difficult time.
There were eleven qualifying entries (no judge dissented) for the Best Fake Scam contest.
The rules said the prize would be 30 points times the number of entrants, to a max of 1,000, and 30 × 11 gives 330 points.
Since that’s an unlucky number i rounded it up to 666 points.
In third prize, J D Vance, who didn’t actually enter and couldn’t win by virtue of being a real scammer and not a fake one.
In second prize, there is no second prize.
Valid fake scam entries were received from:
@taxEnforcementAgent
Wait, that’s twelve. Ah, how did that extra one get into the list? Sneaky! They sent money to be listed! No wait, I had to send them money. I wonder why? Hmm.
First prize is awarded jointly to @acebutterflygirl and @MantaDrifter and each will receive 666 points.
A Total Weirdness prize goes to @YTVTHEVHSFAN2008 and a thank you to @NudeCreator91 for a link to a story about scammers.
The judges were torn between the entries, and after tanking them carefully according to the contest criteria, in the end tossed an NFT to see if it landed on the mural.
Thanks to all who participated!
Contest is now closed, see winners -
However, send $30,000 to this address to reopen the contest and you could be a winner ![]()

Do you get a constant stream of chat requests and notes? “I was inspired by your art and want to make a mural of it“, “You are my artistic muse and I want to make an NFT”, “I accidentally reported the wrong account”, “Your grandmother has been held hostage by orcs in Orthanc and you must pay up or we will feed her to the ents!”
I get a lot of those too. They’re irritating, not funny, right?
But now the scam thou gavest, lord, has ended!
Write a fake scam note or chat request in the comments below. Make it vaguely plausible, but only vaguely, and funny, nonsensical, angry, whatever you like.
First prize is 30 times the number of people entering, in points (up to 1,000 points).
Second prize is my grandmother as an NFT painted in a wall mural just before the terrible accident in Nigeria that turned her into a brand new Yamaha grand piano.
Third prize is a journal feature.
Deadline - 9th July or so.
Rules - respect one another. Don’t wear shoes. No anchovy ice cream allowed.
Getting ready for a trip to Nürnberg (Nuremberg), yay
