Stone skull and crossbones

A real skull and crossbones carved into stone in a tombstone set into the floor at the Camposante Monumentale, the cemetary in Pisa belonging to the same cathedral (Duomo) as the famous Leaning Tower. This is from a medieval tomb, probably 15th century.

The original photograph I took is (scaled down) at [link] and the inscription on the tomb is on the next image there.

You can use the pieces non-commercially for any purpose whatsoever; again I'd like a link back if possible.

You can use the pieces commercially, but in this case you must send me a copy of the finished work, and the cost is that you must go entirely barefoot for a day, i.e. all the time for 24 consecutive hours. OK, I'm weird. Live with it.

Hi!

Just thought you'd like to know that we've used this piece in a proposed ebook cover for one of our bestselling clients; we don't know if she'll like it, but we'll let you know if we roll with it, and get you a copy of the cover. The cover designer that used it, Rick, has already been barefoot for 3 days, so we think he's got that end covered (pun intended).

Thanks,
Hitch @booknookbiz

Thanks for letting me know. Actually you should (according to the posted terms) send me a copy of the book, although without knowing what it is I'll probably be fine with the cover :D

:D it was weird to find it there too. You can see where people's feet (OK, their boots and shoes mostly) have worn parts away over the years but I'd rather not walk on it myself!
