Early 90's Taco Bell

Ahh, I miss the old fast food interiors like this. The bench seats, swivel chairs, the cool colors. Most places here have been gutted and remodeled. This Taco Bell seems to have escaped renovation for now though.
Coincidentally, this is also the favorite Taco Bell of a friend of mine. He knows the employees. Friendly guys, and they even put some sketches he did for them behind the counter.

The Taco Bell in my area looks exactly the same!

Coming back to this, I've always wanted to guess that some people sure have thoughts about moving to another town when some of their favorite places get re-done and then they don't have that nice theme they used to have then.

This area is really starting to look like an alien landscape to me honestly. There's no warmth or familiarity anymore. Nothing feels real. Its really depressing

Exactly. They want their places to look like we've gone 500 or 1,000 or more years into the future. It's ridiculous. And the fact that we both hate seeing those places installing those ordering kiosks, those machines really create more problems than solve, plus it can be hard to get a refund using those kiosks if either you received the wrong food or the food was cold or didn't meet expectations or that the wait times are too long; and once again those ordering machines really have a negative social impact. And once again, I don't believe those kiosks really add value to any property. And as always, people doing those stupid protests demanding higher wages should be ashamed of themselves, plus higher wages can actually make those businesses less profitable.

I dont blame them for protesting and I think certainly these huge companies can pay better than they do, but a $15 minimum wage is just gonna price these workers out of the job market. The places that can afford to will automate everything, while the places that can't will go out of business. You can't just force everyone to pay $15. Not every job is worth that much. In the long run you'll close a lot of businesses, so you'll go from crappy job to no job.

Exactly. Demanding higher pay is nothing but manipulative practice. And again, those ordering kiosks really have no benefits. And as always, nothing's more mundane or repulsive than these fast food places going for that darker theme that the average person could easily avoid.

I KNEW IT! lol the oca bell near me has the same style - lol i miss those i aviode the new style res in genrel to be honest. not sure if you notiuced but around 2009 or 8 restrount chains started to enbrace some new coffie shop look ( witch i hate ) as their stores have less color and look more depressing lol shame really seems like they watsed their money chamging all of it

Yes. I hate when they make those fast food places look like a coffee shop, but even worse, those special coffees in fast food places can be very unhealthy. Plus, even the coffees in Starbucks aren't very healthy. I mean, these fast food businesses these days aside from making their stores look less colorful and welcoming, they're really adding more allergens to their foods and now there are a growing number of people avoiding fast food not just because it's unhealthy and what harmful additives they're putting in, but because they have terrible food allergies.
BardaWolf's avatar
Yeah I noticed that. I avoid those places too. They're not comfortable to eat at at all

Quite a few McDonald's here still have bench seats even the recently renovated ones.

Play places will be extinct along with Chuck E Cheese soon. All these little kids glued to the Apple overlords.

Yes. No matter what older locations of fast food joints or wherever I go to, I love those wheelback chairs. McDonald's for instance used to almost always go for those wheelback chairs.

Same here. I still remember when most Mcdonalds here had them.

Not only that though. We had two Mcdonalds franchises here with interesting themes. One was styled inside like a 1960's diner, with red stools, pictures of Marilyn Monroe, and two statues of the Blues Brothers. And another had a big pink Cadillac parked out front, and half of one inside mounted on the wall

Yes. And I even went to one in Owatonna, Minnesota with that 1950s theme on the inside. Always looks more attractive if they have that nostalgic look. More than anything, my wish for McDonald's is to bring back McDonaldland, because their restaurants in general always look more inviting if they have the McDonaldland theme.
