Marketing Materials For Artists
EDIT: Well butter my biscuits, some of my gifs disappeared into the interwebs. I'll remedy this soon! It’s no secret that us artists aren’t great at selling ourselves. The creative process is so much work it’s easy to assume that your work will be able to sell itself. Sometimes it can, but that’s not usually the case. Even if you aren’t interested in going commercial with your career (and there is absolutely nothing wrong with going that route), it is important have professional materials to present to clients, employers and galleries. If you aren’t interested in being “full time” with selling y
Polymer Clay: What is it? and who is using it?
It seems there has been a recent explosion in DA users who are now using polymer clay as a medium for their deviations. To help out curious users who might be interested in what this medium is, how it works, or where they can get it I thought a NEWS article should be made. I shall also showcase some deviations made with polymer clay. The data below is compiled from HanaClayWorks (https://www.deviantart.com/hanaclayworks) polymer clay FAQ and my own FAQ :bulletred: What is polymer clay? -Polymer clay is actually not clay at all. It is a form of plastic. (Specifically fine particles of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) suspended in plasticizer) The only reason it is called "clay" is beca
How to Commission an Artist
I've been commissioning artists for a little over two years now, starting with site money on GaiaOnline and moving to dA from there.  One thing that's hard for me to ignore is the number of artists who are concerned about being scammed, either because they've gone through that experience before or because the stories and warnings of it happening all the time proliferate.  Commissioners have their own concerns about being scammed by artists.  The simple fact of the matter is that it happens. However, I think a good portion of the problem is that many people who want to commission an artist have no experience doing so, and it's not as easy to

Hello! Some months ago I’ve seen first BJD and I totally fall in love with them! I want to show you how emotive and beautiful they are…

Firstly, a short definition:

A ball-jointed doll is any doll that is articulated with ball and socket joints. In contemporary usage when referring to modern dolls, and particularly when using the acronyms BJD or ABJD, it usually refers to modern Asian ball-jointed dolls. These are cast in polyurethane resin, a hard, dense plastic, and the parts strung together with a thick elastic. They are predominantly produced in Japan, South Korea and China. The BJD style has been described as both realistic and influenced by anime. They commonly range in size from about 60 cm (2 feet) for the larger dolls, 40 cm (16 in) for the mini dolls, and all the way down to 10 cm (4 in) or so for the tiniest of the tiny BJDs. BJDs are made to be easy to customize, by painting, changing the eyes and wig, and so forth.
