Malak's Place

Cautiously he sat on the swing, testing it's stability. He felt the tree's limbs give way to his weight... but it held. He laughed out loud heartily and bobbed a bit more, leaves cascading down from the movement. It had been such a busy week for the little raccoon who had just moved to the quaint town of Lilypad. He met an extremely kind villager named Dalton, who found him sleeping on the street on his first night in town. He had been so surprised to wake up on a cozy sofa, but soon learned that Dalton was quite a gentle giant and only wanted to help. Dalton was even kind enough to show Malak to town hall and help him find a place to settle down.

A train's blaring horn pulled him from his thoughts as he glance up on the cliff. The sound of the tracks reminded him of his family, and of his old house. As the wave of nostalgia washed over him a trickle of memories darkened his thoughts. The shouting... the guilt tripping, the arguing... 

He shook his head in defiance, clenching his paws on the ropes of the swing, "No..." he reassured himself, "This is my place... I don't have to worry about those things anymore."

As he swayed gently to and fro on the swing, he looked over the progress he'd made for his camp. Instead of going into debt by purchasing a house from ol' Tom Nook, Malak chose another path.. And bought a tent. Throughout the week he had been scrounging up scraps of wood, stones... Bought a shovel and fishing rod, even some tulips and apples, though fortunately he already had a few trees on the plot he decided to set up on. Dalton even gifted him a barrel for him to store water in. Everything was coming together, slowly but surely.

He smiled widely. It wasn't much, but it was his... and he was free. As the sun cascaded warmth upon his plots he smiled with pride. This was it. This was home.

PHEW! I've been working on this for a few days now and let me tell ya. This was some kinda trial and error and it took a heckin long time...

But yanno what? I'm really really proud of this. <3
