RINGINATOR!!!

Journal Entry: Fri Jul 19, 2013, 6:53 PM

Heya, Folks!!!

Hows it hanging?

Are yall enjoying all the new uploads? I hope so! I'm trying hard to stay on top of getting pictures of our work before we send them off to their new homes and get it all uploaded in a timely manner. Randy (my furrier half, if you've had the pleasure to meet him!) has been doing his best to stay on top of all the messages; llamas, notes, comments, and :+devwatch: , :+fav: 's have been keeping him perfectly busy! (poor fella has a full time job keeping all the loose ends I leave around tied up!)

In recent news we have thinned out most of our fall shows; we are doing a couple huge projects (more details in the future!) that are keeping us well fed and over worked so we cut it back to just one show a month until November.

New Upcoming Shows New

July 26-28: Anime Iowa (Coralville, IA) [link]

August 30-September 2: DragonCon (Atlanta, GA) [link]

September 13-15: Central Missouri Renaissance Festival (Kingdom City, MO) [link]

October 19: Maple Leaf Festival (Carthage, MO) [link]

November 1-3: GMX (Nashville, TN) [link]

November 15-17: Memphis Comic and Fantasy Con (Memphis, TN) [link]

We're still flipping out about Dragon Con. Our hotel is booked (we will be arriving in Atlanta on Wednesday before the show) and we have a trusted helper coming along to lend her assistance. Yall be sure to come visit us in the art show if you're at the convention!

oh, and we ordered a RINGINATOR!!!!! Its a nifty thing that enables us to cut our own rings! For the longest time we had just been buying the bulk of our rings from www.theringlord.com but now we will be able to coil and cut our own rings on an as-need basis. This should help us to shorten the turn over time on a lot of our products, which is better for yall!

The move to Missouri has been proving to be a good idea! Randy hurt his right hand during the move, so he was out of commission for about a month, so in the down time I transformed the yard. I've been keeping a gardening blog if anyone has an interest in it: www.backtoearthproduce.weebly.com (you can follow Back to Earth Produce on facebook as well!)

Let me know what yall are up to, what you like, love, hate, etc!

Moving to Missouri

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 15, 2013, 1:17 PM

er...mah...gherd.... we have been a couple of busy bees so far this year! Uploads to the internet have suffered dramatically, but our show schedule is on a roll that I could seriously get used to! (oh, by the way, did I mention that I am a workaholic and poor Randy is a slave?)

OhayoCon was amazing. Still in shock of how well we did there!

NaughtiGras was amazing. We went in with 30 costumes and body chains and came home with 6.

SheVaCon was not the best show in the world (winter storm Nemo found us that weekend!) but it was fun and we got to hang out with some really awesome and unique people! (any one up for drawing penises for an hour with a professional children's book illustrator?)

ConNooga is feeling some growing pains as they make changes to the convention set up, but we got to catch up with the wonderful :iconred-dragon-lord: and his lovely wife! Check them out if you haven't; this man is walking talent (and they are genuinely awesome people, which is hard to beat!)

Castle McCulloch 12 by Red-Dragon-Lord Orc 5 by Red-Dragon-Lord Shy Dragoness by Red-Dragon-Lord Contemplating Dragon by Red-Dragon-Lord

MoMoCon was awesome and if you could find us in the rat maze of a dealers room then you got to see our newest work that will never get to see the light of the internet because I was a bad elf and didn't get pictures of it before the show!

So we took a moment of reprieve and treated ourselves to Oz the Great and Powerful and some tacos. Now it is back to work with custom orders and restocking for the upcoming MidSouthCon, which is always a pleasure (we love our Memphis crowd!) and then the following weekend at MTAC. Then we will have a weekend off before heading up to the St Louis area for Anime St Louis.

And that leads us up to the big news: we are moving to Carthage, Missouri. It is both a personal and business move as it is opening up a lot of the MidWest shows for us that were just too far away in the past and it is bringing us to a half way point geographically between my family and Randy's family, so maybe we will see more of both of them. The best part is we will still be keeping our basic show schedule so we will still see most of our friends (albeit not as often as we would like!)

On that note, back to the work bench! Hello and thank you to all our new followers and new friends! Until next time, Happy Crafting!

OhayoCon and Other News

Journal Entry: Mon Dec 10, 2012, 3:06 PM

OhayoCon was phenomenal!! We had so much fun, met some really amazing cosplayers, sold a ton of stuff, and had an all-around good time! I wanted to throw in a shout out to the people who helped us on Sunday late afternoon; we were carting our last load of booth stuff out to the car and the cart tipped. Yall came out of the wood works and helped us. That was awesomely nice of you and it warmed my frigid stone of a heart; I wasn't able to thank any of you personally, but by the random chance that one of you are reading this I want you to know that you're awesome!

After the con we have hit the ground running in preparation for Naughti Gras and SheVaCon the immediate weekend after. Everything feels like a hectic mess with the looming news of our impending move. Speaking of which; we will be moving to Carthage, Missouri this coming April. Its a strategic family and business move so hopefully many good things will come of it. The great news is that we will still be able to do a lot of the same shows that we have been doing, with the addition of many new shows in the MidWest. I am terribly afraid of tornadoes, though, so dealing with that whole tornado alley thing is going to be interesting....

A HUGE thanks to all our new watchers! :glomp: Your support and interest in what we do means a lot to me and I am honored to have so many talented and cool people notice that we exist! If the throw a llama at you, its because I like you and your work and... well.... its fun!

Wire Wrapping Workshop and Upcoming Shows

Journal Entry: Sat Oct 20, 2012, 8:13 AM

Are you interested in learning how to wire wrap and are in walking, driving, or flying distance of Memphis, TN? Come to the Memphis Comic and Fantasy Con and take my Hands on WorkShop: Wire Wrapping 101 at 10am on Saturday!

www.memphiscfc.com/

Come learn to make your very own wire wrapped pendant! Discuss basic techniques and skills needed for working with wire and make a five bead star charm to take home with you! The project is perfect for beginners (even children!), but this class is open to all skill levels. All tools and materials needed will be provided and a donation of a few dollars is encouraged to help cover the cost of materials but is not required.

In other news, this has been such a hectic month with prepping for shows, putting in the fall garden, and a random other assortment of life stuff that we will not be having a costume contest or a monthly give-away; I am however donating prizes to a few contests:

:iconfeel-art: 's The Feeling of Autumn contest: feel-art.deviantart.com/journa…

and a contest hosted by :iconelite-bellydance: elite-bellydance.deviantart.co…

Also, I am finally caught up on uploading! No more mass spamming of jewelry to your inbox! Now I am practicing diligence in uploading items as I make them, which is a challenge to my nature but I am doing my best to stay on top of this!

:new: Upcoming Shows :new:

Its time for the September roll for the loot monthly give away! Go to www.randomnumbergenerator.com/ and post in the comments the number you get for random number between 1-1000. Whoever gets closest to our number (which will be drawn at the end of the month) without going over WINS!
The drawing for the winner will be September 30. Good Luck!

It is preferred that yall go to :facebook: www.facebook.com/pages/Back-to… and post your number there, but if you don't have a facebook or are just lazy go ahead and post your number as a comment and I will message you if you win! Be sure to watch us and all that jazz, too, because you never know when we might be throwing some other competition or give away!

Speaking of which, are yall getting your costumes ready for Halloween? You should be, because we are hosting another costume contest this year: it doesn't have to be a new costume, but you get extra points if it is handmade, so send me some thumbnails in a note and tell me all about the costume and I will decide whose costume I like best November 1.

August's winner was :iconroboticpurplepanda: and she should be receiving her loot in about a week :)

We are still working on lots of new costume pieces but with three shows and a photo shoot this month, there is no telling what all I will be getting uploaded! I wanted to throw a shoutout "HEY!" to all of our new watchers; its good to have you with us; please participate at whatever intensity you feel comfortable with. Comment on and fav every single thing or completely ignore me, either way its cool! If you ever have any questions, though, whether it is about our work or your own, please ask. I love to help other artists as much as I can!

Oh, and NatsuCon was AWESOME!!!!! I hope to see my favorite anime crowd again in April for Anime St Louis!

August Roll for the Loot Monthly Give Away!

Journal Entry: Sat Aug 4, 2012, 1:01 PM

July's winner was :iconkitkat-teh-mime: and I'm not telling you what they got because its a surprise!!!

Its time for the "roll for the loot" monthly give away! Go to www.randomnumbergenerator.com/ and use the number it gives you for random number 1-1000. Whoever gets the number closest to ours without going over wins a free gift! Like us on :facebook: www.facebook.com/pages/Back-to… and you will see where the comment thread is where to post your number. We will announce the winner on August 31 on facebook!

EDIT: If you don't have a facebook or are just lazy :P you can just post the number that you get in the comments of this journal. Be sure to either follow us on here or on facebook so you can be updated about the winner; it could be you!

I was thinking about apologizing for all the uploads lately, but honestly if I don't hurry up and get them loaded then I am always going to be behind! So bear with me and the onslaught of spammy uploads will be over soon! Be sure to leave comments/fave/watch if the mood strikes you and feel free to ask any questions that come to mind; I love to help out other artists!

If I threw a :llama: at you it is because you are awesome. Someone was going to have to tell you at some point, so you may as well come to terms with it now.

In other news, I have lost 10 pounds in the last month and am lining up a photo shoot with a friend who lives in the next city over. I am not sure how that is going to go, but I am sure it will be fun! (totally going to be my first time modeling) I am hoping to do a photo shoot with him every time I loose 10 pounds; I couldn't think of a better way to track my progress! I have anywhere from 50 to 80 pounds to loose so there will be a lot more photo shoots....

Keep an eye out for lots new costume pieces in the next month and more leather working!

In recent news, I have rearranged the craft room, swapping it with where the bedroom used to be. It has been an insane two days (immediately following a 100+degree weather outdoor show for two days....) but the new bedroom is all clean and tidy and the new craft room is.... half clean. there is still a massive pile of... I don't want to talk about it any more.

Anime St Louis

Journal Entry: Mon Apr 16, 2012, 3:12 PM

Since FWA we have had two cons; MidSouthCon and FroliCon. In that time I have been a master procrastinator, and I don't feel like talking about it.

I hope everyone has been staying safe with all the storms and tornadoes that have been hitting Texas and all that. My family has been right in the middle of it, so my thoughts are with everyone who is facing nature's wrath this Spring.

Our next adventure is Anime St Louis in (its redundant, I know,) St Louis.

More updates to come eventually!

Furry Weekend Atlanta

Journal Entry: Mon Mar 12, 2012, 9:28 PM

Our very first furry con ever, and I am very excited! We head out Thursday to get to set up and opening ceremony. In the Atlanta, GA area? Check out their website: www.furryweekend.com/ and come see us in the dealers den (if you can find time between all the panels and meet and greets going on.

In other news, we have applied as artists for DragonCon and we will find out by April 15th if we made it through the jury process (wish us luck!)

I am still going to be spamming yalls inboxes with more jewelry and costumes because our current back log is.... (checking....) a whopping 259 items. And tomorrow is going to be mainly devoted to taking pictures of all the new stock we have been making (anyone up for some custom yarn tails? ^_^) So bear with us as we whittle through our back log and get caught up :work:

I want to thank all of our new watchers, llama throwers,  and favers for giving us so much love; yall really inspire me to keep it together even when money is tight and my brain is exploding. Randy and I are doing our best to keep up with the messages, comments, and deviantwatch folders (when did you all get so talented?!?!)

the next tutorial is still a WIP and I will probably be uploading two simultaneously (the wire wrapped pendant and chainmaille star) because I am so behind.

After FWA we will be heading to MidSouthCon and I can barely wait to see all my Memphis friends again!

I hope to see yall around

Post ConNooga

Journal Entry: Mon Feb 20, 2012, 8:06 AM

ConNooga was a blast and we sold wonderfully and although we are exhausted now that we are home there is a pile of commissions what we need to get to work on (hooray!) Our next show is Furry Weekend Atlanta, our very first furry convention, and I am pretty excited.

:new: We got our very first DD recently and we are still going through the messages, checking out everyone's galleries and throwing llamas at you if you like what we see. I am honored to receive the DD and thrilled that so many people like our work! :new:

I am still working on the next video tutorial, which will be how to make a simple wire wrapped pendant, so I will get on that and get it posted.

There have been no new products uploaded lately because Yahoo Site Solutions, the domain provider I use, has been having errors, so I can't update and save my work. I am trying to get this issue resolved and if it doesn't get figured out in the next few days I am going to go to someone else. Any suggestions for domain providers that will let me use paypal and import an existing site? I really don't want to have to start from scratch or anything and I am a derpette when it comes to html and webdesign.

I would like to do another shoutout to :iconcreativeexcess: for giving me a premium membership. I have been thoroughly enjoying it!

Its good to be home and back to work and play in my little corner of the world. Other than having a great time this weekend, something pretty awesome happened: my face made it on the front page of the Chattanooga free press website and the local section of the Sunday news paper: timesfreepress.com/news/2012/j… which is pretty darn cool! :)

Well, best cake ever, but to get really specific....lol. Anyways, She wants us to make some slices of cake that look like her best selling cake; coconut cream. Let me know what you think, though! I love getting comments and critiques (even though I don't have a subscription and can't technically get critiques from other deviants)

In other news, don't forget about the Letters to Santa Contest: write a letter to santa! the most clever, cute, moving, etc letter wins! And the winner gets a custom Christmas ornament!

Letters can be submitted however; link me to it if you upload it as a deviation, send it to me in a note; by any means necessary.

Hey Yall!

This month's contest was :icondragonpeace:'s idea:

write a letter to santa! the most clever, cute, moving, etc letter wins! And the winner gets a custom Christmas ornament!

Letters can be submitted however; link me to it if you upload it as a deviation, send it to me in a note; by any means necessary.

In other news the sick onslaught of uploads from me probably isn't going to stop any time soon.

Upcoming shows:

Hey yall!

We have a new laptop and are now fully back in action (the old lap top caught the clap from facebook and had to go to rehab)

In celebration of the rampant consumerism that is justified by it being flippin cold and there isn't anything else to do, anything that yall order from us at www.backtoearthcreations.com comes with a free gift. Hooray! now go buy stuff. :D

When my old laptop died I lost all the pictures I had taken of jewelry. The disk I burnt it to corrupted or something and said it was over half full, but when I tried to open the files it said they were empty. I was devastated. But, at least I am mostly caught up now instead of being 3 years behind on updating. So prepare for lots of updates.

Oh, and then my dogs ATE THE DISK. kindof. mostly just chewed on it. oh well.

Any suggestions on what the next contest should be?
yall made this tough on us; there were a lot of good costumes, but we have been able to narrow it down to the best:

First place goes to: :iconcrystalen-designz:

Avatar Costume by Crystalen-Designz Avatar Profile shot by Crystalen-Designz Avatar Make-up by Crystalen-Designz Avatar Make up profile by Crystalen-Designz

She did an all-round awesome job on this costume, from the accessories to the face/body paint; just everything. Check her out and share some love; she worked hard and earned it :D First place winner gets one item (up to $50 in value) for free and this includes custom commissions :)

Second Place goes to :iconhanako-neko:

She handmade this, yall! Second Place wins a 25% discount on their next purchase from us, with a 6 month expiration (if you don't use it before 6 months then it goes away)

Third place goes to: :icontwilightsaint:

:thumb260405425:

I liked this handmade cosstume; its orignal in the context of renfairs and I think she did a good job :) Third place gets a 15% discount on their next order with the same 6 month expiration date on that virtual coupon :P

Some other cool costumes that were submitted that I really liked:
