Fantastic shot you have here.
I can remember BA using Atlas Air's 744F which was painted in the BA World Cargo colour.
Which had the Chelsea Rose images.
Those were the days..

Those are called winglets. They reduce drag and enable the aeroplane to fly further and use less fuel.
