I've been pretty bad at keeping my journal up to date here. Life's changed a lot in recent years, not just having moved from Europe to the US but having moved within the US several times as well. I've left the aviation life behind, at least, professionally that is. I'm still licensed to fly commercially but honestly it was taking a big toll on my life, and doing a "normal" job has been working out much better for me in terms for work-life balance (and in terms of money...). I have done some flying for fun in the meanwhile but not as much as I'd like to, I've found flying to be a lot of work when you have to combine it with a regular 40 hour work week and isn't actually your job. Further, the pacific north west really sort of necessitates that I keep IFR current if I want to take flying seriously because the weather here I've found very unpredictable and quite often, well, terrible for flying.
Anyway, that all said, I've noticed that my aviation themed pictures still seem to get the best response on here so I'm going to keep the aviation thing going And try to pick up flying a little more seriously again if I can find the motivation / energy for it. My sort of personal goal is to try and buy a piston twin aircraft (a twin both due details around how I'm licensed with the FAA and also because the area here necessitates a lot of flying over water), but, if that were to ever happen that's still several years out. Because, well, planes are expensive.
Some people that I wanted to feature that I started watching recently. First is - his username does a good job at describing what sort of art he typically does:
Second is from Germany, here too the username gives away what the theme is at times, but there's a nice variety of stuff in his gallery. That said I must admit I quite like the recurring theme of emergency vehicles in low-light settings.
