In the immediate aftermath of the Dilgar War, Earth Force R&D focused on reverse-engineering the artificial gravity systems acquired (stolen) from their defeated enemy. The effectiveness of the Earth Alliance’s heavy plasma-based weaponry against a technologically and numerically superior adversary gave the Alliance an inflated sense of self-worth. All that was required, the generals insisted, was to incorporate the artificial gravity technology that had proved so elusive into their existing fleet of warships so that they could remain on patrol longer. The combination of heavy armour, computer-controlled interceptor grids and the E-Web energy dispersal system built into the ship’s outer hulls had proved immensely effective against Dilgar weapons and even those captured from members of the League of Non-Aligned Worlds, later wielded by a desperate Dilgar.
