Rot blooms from the inside
Ictu snarled as yet another plank collapsed below his feet. “Valentine, we still haven't reached true ground. How long are we going to keep walking in circles before we break the wrong board and collapse into whatever splintery horror exists below this flotsam?” Ictu’s ears pinned as Valentine flicked his tail at him, as if to tell him to be silent. “Don't you dare-” A forceful ping slammed into Ictu’s head, nearly knocking his breath away. Ictu blinked rapidly, trying to reorient his mind long enough to accept the ping.‘Be silent. Something is going on just past the next ship, and I'm trying to listen so I know what we’re about to get into, or would you rather be stabbed before we can find flat ground?’
Ictu blinked rapidly, shaking his head to clear the leftover emotions that had traveled along with the message. Surely their tromping through this maze of stranded ships and constant breaking of wood would have already been caught by anyone who happened to be nearby, right? They were

Penji’s paws thrashed against the water’s currents as he dragged himself to the surface. Being one of the fastest swimmers in his family had its advantages, especially when water tended to be what separated him from all of the fun and exciting things he wanted to do. Well, that and his siblings constantly pulling on his tail. Speaking of which, Quartija and Benish surely were right behind him, so if he wanted to do something without them poo pooing it, he needed to get moving now. Looking around the white sand beaches however, it didn't seem like there was very much of interest- wait. What was that? Ohhhh yes, those would do nicely! He set off at a sprint without sparing a second thought to his decision.“Penji?” Quartija’s voice bubbled as he breached the waves, yanking his tail off a bit of seaweed that had trapped him just under the water. Benish had told him to make sure he stayed close to Penji if they got separated, and sure enough, Penji had taken off again as soon as they had

‘Remind me, oh my lovely, wonderful, dearest sister… What the fuck are we doing this far out? Im freezing my fucking scales off! You said it was just a few minutes outside the dome.’ Bellatilla’s voice sliced into Aryadonna’s brain as she accepted her sister’s fifteenth ping in the last ten minutes. Aryadonna sighed, spinning around faster than she intended to, nearly instantly coming face to face with Bellatilla. Aryadonna startled slightly at their sudden closeness- she had never quite gotten used to the freedom of movement that came with being under water. Shaking head to clear it, Aryadonna fixed her sister with a glare. Firing back a ping of her own, Aryadonna made sure to flavor her magic with all the annoyance she was feeling.Bellatilla startled as the freezing grip of the water around her swirled, Aryadonna suddenly nose to nose with her. Before she could react properly, Arya practically launched a ping at her. The force of it sent Bellatilla’s head rearing back, as the

“So you're telling me if I want to get the finger joints to move like yours do, I need a byproduct of making olive oil? Where can I even get that? I don't think we even have any olive trees in my village…” Phino’s voice quavered as he looked at the blacksmith in a bit of a panic. He was looking for a way to make the prosthesis he made for Temnein not so squeaky and stiff. He had tried many, many different methods of building the fingers, but regardless of shape or material, the separate pieces simply ground and sparked off of one another when they moved, regardless of if the movement was mechanical or magical. In frustration, Phino had ranted about the situation in the mess hall, and Patates had mentioned a smith in Altas who made prosthetics that were stunning, and more than that, silent. The trip here had taken so long, and now he was going to have to go hunting for a way to make olive oil so he could collect the byproducts? Surely that was too niche an item to just buy in the

Some Adventures are Messy
“Cousin of mine, this is easily the most foolish thing I've ever seen you do. And considering I once saw you try and take on an entire herd of wild bison alone, that is saying quite a lot. Are you not meant to be the adult here?” Kysolampis’ words came out harsher than he meant for them too, but honestly what was Temnein thinking? Kyso’s eyes narrowed as he looked down at the contraption Temnein was lashing his legs into. Amphinomus was milling about behind Temnein, fiddling with various bits of the straps and harness material, tucking them in or retying things that Temnein got wrong.
“Oh, come off it Kyso, how else are we going to get all this rubbish out of the trees?” Temnein twisted his head upside down to look back at his worry wart of a younger cousin while Amphinomus sorted his tail into the lashings. Kyso never really approved of any of his (ingenious, if he dared say so himself) plans, but this time his words stung a little - they were rough, even for him. They had been tasked
