Colors of the Heart

"Colors of the Heart", or "Heart Stone", is identified early by the irregularly shaped, glass-like projection on the head. Colors is a highly mutated form of Seeing is Believing (fav.me/d99bfyd). This projection acts much like antlers of stags, in that it doesn't show itself the first few months of a fawns life, but will gradually push through until it is all visible up to a ring of bone. This projection will also fall off and be regrown with a velvet covering at the usual antler-shedding times.

The Heart Stone essentially acts like a mood ring for the elk. Each tine (usually) of a stag has a bony ring around the base, and as each tine matures the ring widens to accommodate a translucent portion that will show colors. On does, and occasionally stags, there is another projection that can be found in the center of the forehead. It can be a wide variety of shapes, though it is always rounded, and will too act as the antlers and change depending on internal chemical factors.
