Pokemon: The Tower

 Martin and Jakie left the rock tunnel. It had been quite a journey, Jakie's butterfree was able to use flash while they were in the tunnel since it was much darker than mt. moon, and now they reached Lavender town. The town was small, and a large tower was in the distance, and Jakie just couldn't help but get a sense of foreboding about the tower, it seemed so eerie, and she didn't know why. As they walked around the town, a woman was fretting as she looked around frantically. Martin saw Jakie looked a little concerned and they went over to see what was wrong. The woman then told them something they hoped they never would have heard. Team Rocket, the criminal organization that stole pokemon, had killed a female marowak that was trying to protect her offspring. This made Jakie very upset, she knew team rocket was a bad group of people, but she never knew they were capable of this. She asked the woman where the cubone went to and she responded that he went to the pokemon tower, where people buried their pokemon that died. Jakie then understood why the tower gave her such the willies when she saw it. As martin ran off to the tower, the woman warned them that the tower was teeming with ghost pokemon, so they had to be careful of haunters and gastlys that were going around the tower.

 As Jakie and Martin went into the tower, she saw why the woman was worried about them. The whole environment was was just eerie and Jakie didn't like it one bit. They already passed by a trainer that was there. As they went through some of the floors, she saw many other people in front of gravestones, no doubt paying a visit to their deceased pokemon. She snapped out of it and realized Martin was gone. She called out to him and he came out, announcing that he had just caught a haunter. Jakie looked it up in her pokedex and saw a very creepy looked pokemon come up, telling her that it was a ghost type pokemon and that it was said that when there was no one around, that it was probably watching. This freaked her out a little so she told herself that she wouldn't ever get a haunter. When they got to the staircase to the last floor, she saw a Rocket grunt with a koffing battling a cubone. The cubone wasn't doing too well and the grunt was going on about how the cubone had spirit and that team rocket could use that. Martin looked at Jakie and she nodded, saying how they needed to save cubone. In response Martin called out his new haunter while Jakie called her charmander out. She told Martin to go ahead and deal with the rest of team Rocket while she saved cubone. Martin nodded and he and beedrill rushed by the grunt before he was prepared, leaving Jakie to deal with the lone grunt.

As Jakie squared off against the grunt, she grimaced a little. If there was one thing she had noticed while on her journey, it was that Martin was pretty adept at battling, only having to rematch once against Lt. Surge while Jakie was not as skilled, so she'd get the lone grunt. She sort of regretted this decision as the grunt began to overpower charmander, but Jakie wasn't going to give up and let him take cubone. Her determination seemed to inspire charmander as well, and before her eyes, she saw charmander begin to evolve. As she watched, a horn grew on his head and he got bigger while his snout narrowed and lengthened before finishing evolving into charmeleon. In fasination, she watched as it displayed a new move it had learned, dragon rage. It fired a purple flame from it's mouth which hit the grunt's koffing in it's face, knocking it out. The grunt looked in dismay as his pokemon was taken out, so he called it back and scurried off, swearing revenge. Jakie hugged charmeleon and went up to see how Martin was and saw that Martin was mopping up the last of the grunts. He commented that it wasn't even a fair fight and that another trainer had apparently saved an old man named Mr. Fuji. Jakie nodded, understanding, now wanting to leave having had enough of this eerie tower, which Martin agreed to.

 When they were back in Lavender town, they found the woman who was taking care of cubone. Jakie remarked that she was glad they could save cubone, and as they were about to leave to for Celedon city to challenge Erika, cubone ran up. It hugged Jakie's leg and the woman explained that cubone seemed to want to go with her. Jakie asked if that was the case and cubone nodded. Jakie then gleefully took out a pokeball and tapped cubone with it, catching it. She smiled at her new pokemon and Martin nodded approvingly. With that, they continued on their way, but a lump still formed in Jakie's throat as she thought about what Team Rocket was planned that they were now killing pokemon.
