gamzee tutorial part 1

By b00ts
Part one of the Gamzee tutorial! The other parts will be up as soon as I can finish them.

Part 2: [link]
Part 3: [link]

Backstitch tutorial: [link]

Hidden stitch tutorial: [link]

I tried to make it easy to understand for people who don't sew much, but I'm not sure if I succeeded. I think experienced sewers can tell what to do just from the simple pattern so I don't know what level of detail I should go into. Feel free to ask questions!

I have a question. I love the turnout of Gamzee, he's just so cute!!!!!! But how tall did he come out? Like, in inches/centimeters

Just wanted to mension that the hidden stitch is also known as the ladder stitch. (The hidden stitch tutorial in the description would not load properly for me, so I had to find one for a ladder stitch)

Other than that, thank you for uploading your patterns and this tutorial! =3 Working on my first troll right now.

These look REALLY awesome, but I dunno how to make the face. Do you need a special type of printer?
b00ts's avatar
nah! just a special type of paper, which i included in the materials list. :)

nevermind, I get it now...I feel stupid ^^

Thank you for this! Do you think I could make a John and Dave using this as a base?
b00ts's avatar
of course! i have a dave face, hair, and (white suit dave)'s clothing in my tutorial/patterns gallery. john shouldn't be hard to do either.

What difficulty would you consider this project? (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
b00ts's avatar
intermediate? i'm sure someone with no sewing experience could do it but it'll be a little challenging. :)

That really helps. I have a little bit of sewing experience, and with the help of some of my friends I'm sure I can figure this out. I have one more question, in your opinion do you think that this is easier to do by hand, or with a sewing machine?
b00ts's avatar
by hand! unless you blow up the pattern in photoshop it's really hard to sew on a machine.

This really helped! Thanks so much! (I'm planning to use this base to make Vriska)

cool, good luck! lemme know if you have any more questions!

Hey, I know it's been over a a year and such, but about how much did it cost you for all the materials?

A pack or iron on transfer paper generally runs $9 at walmart, and fleece generally $2/yard or so, and you dont ahve to buy full yards.
b00ts's avatar
i'm sorry, i don't know! i wish i could help but i tend to buy in larger quantities than i need for single projects anyway :\
