So it's been a year since my last journal entry, and almost that long since I last logged on. Found over a thousand pieces of art in my messages... didn't look at a single one. Deleted most of my watches, too. I am starting anew.
Taking Art History this year really opened my eyes in a million ways, and not just 'cause the teacher was... godly. c: I look at art differently, less critically, and more deeply. I've stopped admiring art just because it looks impressive or because I know it took the artist days or weeks to complete it. Every artist is skilled because he or she takes time to express things, even if they're just studies or sketches or random meanderings of the soul. The class made me appreciate art SO much more than anything I've ever learned about before. In short, I enjoy looking at art a lot more than I used to.
Really the point of this entry is to encourage EVERYONE to take an Art History class sometime in their life! One of the best choices I ever made in High School, along with marching band and purchasing Assassin's Creed. I'm highly positive it will open your eyes to things you'd never noticed before. (For instance, I went nuts playing AC because there were so many elements of art history within the game. Climbing the Gothic cathedral was SO COOL!)
