Stamp Comm: Dursleys should have died

It's been awhile since I saw the movies, and I haven't read the books since high school, but I do remember how horrible the Dursleys were. And one thing I did not like, is how JKR made Harry forgive them because she wanted to make him be forgiving I understand it's her character, world, and story, so she can do whatever she wants with it, but what is so wrong with having the protagonist hate their abusers? It seems that a lot of people put victims hating their abusers as a "antagonist / bad guy thing" or a "flaw," in the protagonist. Because the protagonist needs to "be the bigger person," or "not be as bad as their abusers,"  like fuck that, some people don't deserve forgiveness (like child abusers). 

I can understand him forgiving his cousin, Dudley, more than his aunt and uncle, because his cousin was a child mimicking his parents behavior, and he did sincerely apologize for his behavior as a child. But Petunia and Vernon never felt any remorse, and never apologized.
