Greetings, all, and welcome to my third FABULOUS FRIDAY FEATURE!
FABULOUS FRIDAY FEATURE
I've decided that now that I've got this fabulous year-long subscription, I should take the opportunity to get the word out about other deviants and their magnificent work! If you've got someone you think should be featured in next Friday's Feature, send me a note with a link to their gallery and I'll take a peek
I'd also love to hear about other features, particularly themed ones. I'll list those in the bottom section to help spread the word! The same goes for contests or news articles!
Please favorite this journal and pass it on! And if you liked this feature, be sure to check out the one from last week: azizriandaoxrak.deviantart.com…

that faded like feathers of frost
before the fevered kiss
of my breath.
winter settled slowly
down the curling knots of my spine
the same path
where your lips once burned
like candles in the night,
shadows tossed high
as autumn leaves riding reckless
on the wind.
at times i feel
this cup of bones
will crumble, blood and ash
and only that
and heavy hearts too full to bear
will break against the cool,
upturned cheek of earth
bare of greenery
but veiled in sinking snow.
your every echo is a curse
limned in regret
and the sting of dark hair whipping
in my brimming eyes
carries the coldest winds
across whitewashed memory,
the bite of ice built
upon a wasteland.
even a shiver cannot shake
the ringing feeling
that your absence speaks
a greater truth
that you were never here

that is not yet dead,
that refuses to rot.

upon this cold expansion of damp air
this untouched day before it trips the snare;
what simple turns can mark the fae's soft flight.

hot with the colors of

Elegy Of A Lost SeasonI am the fall.
Broken in June, buried in August -
haunting September from the boughs of hazel,
where not even the rain could reach me.
How my limbs ached to feel its soothing caress;
but my limbs felt nothing, and I felt nothing.
And the season moved on, without me.
Once, long ago, I was spring,
delicate and pure; fragile as willow seedlings,
believing themselves strong, as they stretch toward the sun -
before the wind breaks their stalks, and they fall
defeated, drained, limp upon the ground;
crushed and forgotten as tears.
But no, I was summer -
when I looked into your eyes for the first time
and forgot to curse the sun.
Tiny beads running down my neck;
hateful, so hateful - ignored, as you ensnared my senses.
You were summer, too
cradled in the branches of oak,
bright enough to burn my eyes and scorch my skin,
but never close enough to touch.
Until in your arms, I became summer,
and the sun could not outshine us.
But now I am winter -
numb and cold, faded, stripped and desolate;

Lit-Visual Alliance Allied Artwork Feature #5 Hello my glorious Allies! It's time again to showcase more of the amazing Allied Artwork pieces that have been making their way into our
Featured Folder over at Lit-Visual-Alliance.
What is the Alliance, you ask?
The Alliance is a project group intended to encourage visual and literary artists to work together. I've felt for some time that the dA Literature Community can at times be somewhat insular - to its detriment. We in the Lit Community are also sometimes prone to griping about the lack of exposure our work receives when compared to that of visual artists. So in the spirit of ^thorns brilliant Complaint Challenge I thought I would try to do something about that. And so the Alliance
Inner Divinity Contest! FINAL WARNING! You have ONE DAY to finish up your entries! The contest folder will be closed as of 11:59PM tomorrow, October 31! Thanks so much to everyone who has entered so far! If you're in need of inspiration, consider checking out the current submissions: http://wordsmiths-guild.deviantart.com/gallery/39247216
Yes, that's right! I'm starting up another contest to try and revitalize the group. AND WE'VE GOT PRIZES!
So here's the concept:
This contest is all about celebrating inner divinity. Poetry, at least for me, is always about the spiritual on some level. In this contest, I invite you to try to explore an aspect of your spiritual self by writing from the perspective of a deity of some kind.
Let me emphasize: you do not have to be religious for this contest prompt to work. Go out and find a deity from a religion - ANY religion from ANYWHERE in the world (I will also accept saints) - that you identify with on some level.

Fantastic Feature Tuesday #15hello!
this is a weekly feature of amazing literature that i come by during my
travels across deviantart. this is only a small sample of a vast amount
of wonderful pieces of literature written by absolutely fantastic
writers. each deviation was carefully selected from a writer's gallery
based on structure, impact and word usage. i try (try!) to feature
deviants who get less spotlight than others and i will never feature the
same person twice.
these are truly some spectacular works and i urge to you take a look! i only pick the best, you know! (;
please take the time to read through each one - seriously, it takes five minutes - and be sure to the journal! (:

Maim Your Protagonist Halloween ContestYou create them. You love them. You nurture them. You literarily give them the world as their playground.
And then you put them through hell.
Here at lacoterie we want to see exactly how rough you can be on your protagonists, and, in honour of Halloween, we're bringing you a contest to do just that.
Protagonist must be maimed in course of narrative.
55-1000 words, prose.
No obvious maiming - i.e. legs, arms, heads*.
Maiming must cause some sort of problem for protagonist (i.e. it can be a papercut, but that papercut better do a helluva lot of work to impact the narrative. like. earth-shattering epic papercut).
Protagonist must hate themselves at the end.
There are more ways to cause injury than harming the body.
Incorporate a wedding (in honour of betwixtthepages); how you incorporate it is entirely up to you, but it needs to be in there somewhere.

About Love dA Lit
Love dA Lit aims to promote volunteer opportunities, various resources, prompts, challenges, and workshops, as well as highlighting various contests, and spotlighting a specific group every week. This is by no means a complete list of all the literature going-ons, merely a tool to help you get involved and stay informed.
Love dA Lit is published every Sunday, by HugQueen via news article, and the Community portal will be updated in accompaniment with it!

A Few Brief LinesSo everyone's talking about Spirit Day... I might as well do it, too.
I wrote something on it a few days ago. Not specifically Spirit Day, but the concept behind the month in general.
Here's the deal:
I think it's nothing but good that time and energy is devoted to making the masses aware of a problem. I really do. All the people who offer support and crawl out of the woodwork to wave their flags, absolutely fantastic. Pat yourselves on the back. But this isn't a one day thing. It's not a one month thing. This is an all the time thing.
Wearing a button or a colour or reposting memes to your Facebook page doesn't do anything but give you a warm, fuzzy feeling because you've performed some socially appropriate action.
I know, I know. I should be grateful that the social norm is deigning to recognise that I deserve to be treated like a real, live human being. I should be extolling the virtues of every one of you
Updated:A Comment about LGBT Rights and Spirit Day
Let me start off with:
Don't get me wrong, I totally support the efforts against bullying, particularly for people who have some form of non-normative gender expression or sexuality. BUT, for the most part, I find that allies (or even people who are part of "LGBTQ"/"GLBTQ" communities forget about those who DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE GENDER BINARY, and who are not simply cis-gendered, trans, gay, lesbian, or bisexual. *I* am one of the people who DOES NOT fit the gender or sexuality binary, and I find there is not enough recognition of people like me.
For me, this is FINE, but Spirit Day is all about speaking up FOR THE TEENS AND KIDS WHO SUFFER THROUGH BULLYING. And those who are like me need to know that they are not alone, that there are others like them who have experienced the kind of confusion I have, while also trying to cope with bullying.
I'd like to include an excerpt from an articl
Spirit Day is ComingSpirit Day
Save the date! Spirit Day is Friday, October 19th! Which means you can show your support for the LGBT community by doing a number of things, from raising awareness through articles, artwork, literature or simply sporting the team colors on and/or offline. What colors?
The color that represents Spirit Day is purple! Which brings us to the challenge portion of Spirit Day!
The Purple Challenge
The Purple Challenge is simple, go one day (October 19th) using only one color during your daily adventure on deviantART: purple. Here are some places you can pimp out the color purple:
Your avatar. Use a simple photo editing program to temporarily turn your avatar purple.
A featured deviation on your page.
A collection of purple deviations.
Use only purple emoticons!
